As most of you are aware, phpbb3 has reached RC1. This means no major changes are planned at this time and mod developers will kick into high gear to get their mods validated and released. What this means to us, is that we can now make concrete plans for the next generation of IntegraMOD. I say generation, instead of just version, because much will change. In fact much is already changing. If you have been following the development of our new portal system on www.phpbbireland.com , you already know that our chief admin, and developer, Michaelo, has been hard at work since the early beta's of phpbb3, developing IntegraMOD Portal, currently called Stargate. This is a completely new system, and has nothing in common with our current IMPortal other than name. He has already created many mods for it, a few themes, and is working toward integration of many of our key mods.
upgrades from 132, 140, 141, and the soon to be released 142 are being planned even now.
here is a list of currently critical upgrade transfers

all db info will be saved and as mods become available to access the info, they will be released

I'm pretty sure you guys won't leave KnowledgeBase and such out (as I don't see it in the list), but I'm pretty sure for the type of update it will be (a next generation portal) that will pretty much cover the most essential!

Having started playing arround with phpBB3 myself and already updated my beta-theme for it, I must say the speed with which the new engine runs is simply adictive!

All the advanced features from Admin side don't even seem as horrorable considering a lot can be done 10 times as fast as usual (except... now there is 3x as much you can do as well )

Anyhow! I'm a big fan of the hard work you guys are putting into all this and will stay by your side with any little help I can chip-in with myself!

I am currently running importal and phpbb 2.19. I am wanting to eventually to upgrade to phpbb 3.0 but need a couple mods that are not available in 3.0 yet. Mainly the Complete Banner Mod and Plugin Poker.

Is switching to Integramod 1.4.X a good intermediary step?

Also, can phpbb 2.x switches, like those used in the login and register links in the top menu bar usable in the Integramod Navigation Block?

they are not necesary in the nav block. We use qbar, so you can specify who sees what, whether logged in, member of a group, etc

That is hard to tell... because it depends on what features you really need.
Keep in mind that moving to IntegraMOD 1.41 will still be phpBB2 but it will be the most complete mod package you will find! Most stuff can simply be turned off, or you remove links to them if you don't want the feature on your site.
But at this point, there is no way of telling what MODs will become available in phpBB3. (of course, most popular MODs will always find community members to rewrite them )

In my opinion (pls forgive my ignorance)... IntegraMOD is the best phpBB board you can possibly start out with! I've set up many boards for many sites and 95% done with IntegraMOD always had what the client wanted. Just turn off/disable what you don't need

I have moved to a phpbb3 board and have not been impressed with other portals that have been coming out.

Integramod's history of making the admin side of portals very easy and intuitive has me asking...(sucking up for sure )

This post alludes to the fact that 1.42 was nearing completion. Is that still the case? Will it be an intermediate step towards "Stargate" and phpbb 3? Will 1.42be based on phpbb 3?

Will there be an easy upgrade path from IntergraMod 1.41 to StarGate or 1.42?

Inquiring minds want to know.

142 was put on hold as phpbb3 went gold. Most of the devs are working in some form on the mods required by integramod. Since most of the mods are still very beta, or do not yet exist, we are still some time from a phpbb3 release. Some of the new members, may not remember Okki. He was a dev here for quite some time and was instrumental in the release of 140. He has rejoined our staff and has offered to work with obiku on 143. Yes 143. This is because he has already released an NL version of his 142. Hopefully 143 will get everyone from integramod.com and integramod.nl on the same page.

Wow, so we will do a jump from 1.41 to 1.43 then? Just curious as to what ideas for new mods are going to be thought to be included in this. When is the predicted release date for 1.43? Or if 1.42 will be released, when is that projected date? Just curious to know which mods that arent currently included in 1.41 will be included in the next version.

well i have downlaoded the stargate portal and installed it and so far so good. only one problem i have found with it so far. you can't register on the site phpbbireland.com it just keeps bringing me back to the i agree page.

does he have registration turned off on the site right now or something?

nope that is the site address i goto. but everytime i click register i get as far as clicking hte button that says i agree then it just refreshes the page everytime. been like that for me for a couple weeks
