Is there another integra mod out there?

PostAuthor: aleams » Sat Sep 02, 2006 2:41 pm

Hi, I just join to this forum today, when I try to find a nice portal for my phpbb.

I find this forum redirected by another site, so I didn,t know the exact address of this forum. When I try to find again this place, I searched by google and found
http://integramod.com/home/portal.php

My question is. Are they the same integra mod as this site?
I prefer the style here better than them. But I don't like the idea that they have integramod 2, while here we have integra mod 1.4

we actually started there until the the site broke down from neglect. Dont be fooled my the name of thier product. Wekke's Integramod 2 started out as his version of Integramod 141. After his site almost died from neglect and live site testing, all the mods, devs and most of the members moved here.
When Weeke finally returned, he decided that Integramod belonged to him and him alone. (not sure how he came to that conclusion as he was just one of several admins and the website host) So we stayed here and continued to support ver 140 and develope ver 141. Weeke then renamed his 141 project to 2.0. I may be wrong, but i believe his reason for doing this was to create the kind of confusion your having right now.

IM Portal is the same on both sites.
Integramod 2 and IntegraMOD140 both have thier pros and cons. On the plus side for Integramod 2 is that it has the latest version of Categories Hierarchy.
The benifits of 140 is a large strong community base (if you look at the posts on intetramod.com, you notice most of the post dates are very old), good tech support, many templates and continued development. (IntegraMOD141 is in final beta and nearing completion) We have been planing our IntegraMOD 2 for quite some time based on KISS Portal and phpBB3.0 and I really believe that we will be here long after Integramod.com is a memory.

I still think the major leap is using the latest categories hierarchy mod.....this is the most valuable way to speed up integramod as whole (just my opinion)

Has it been discussed wether to drop the integramod name or even switch the way versions are numbered. Just asking as this whole wekke v the world thing is getting very very confusing for your average user.

I personally prefer the help support and community here. Its free and has the whole community feel to it. Only exception i found was found its site that charges people for downloads; seems to go against the whole ethos of free software but can understand how time consuming it can be making themes so cant fault the guy for wanting something back for his excellent work.

I personally feel whoever successfully integrates phpBB3 with latest CH and all the mods we come to know and love from IM will gain the most users and settle the dispute.

Its a pity really as wekke when in "work" mode is damn talented and very productive. Just a shame ego reared its ugly head and he went off on one.

Just be careful of splitting things too much guys as SMF and mambo are improving all the time and have the easiest install by far.....competition is good for productivity so they say <img>

the name change is being discussed but we are concentrating more on a few other things at the moment. just give some time to get everything in it's place.

I think you guys should seriously consider switching the name with your next releast and call it version 1.0.

I have looked at "IntegraMod 2" and basically I can say with confidence that the work you guys have done is worthy of its own name.

Might I suggest "Zac-Mod 1.0" ???? <img>

The best name for this project will be eVolver 1.0

inspired by this post right here
http://integramod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=15058#15058

the name eVolver also carries with it similar contexts of modififications as that which "evolves" is also "modified" ...inorder to evolve.

Also the syntax of little-e preceding capital-V carries the traditional context of "electronic". Not to mention that the next release will have "evolved" out of much chaos this year.

Not that I really care though what ever its name.. just as long as it works.

It will be a complete travesty, if so much focus goes into 1.4.1 neglecting current 1.4.0 support, only for it to come out just as broke as the current version. Then those running the current version will definitely be out of luck then for support.
