So what happened

PostAuthor: Simon N » Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:36 am

Seems like integramod.com is just as quiet if not quieter than integrmod.com where did all the people go.

Where is adrian rea with his thousands of posts per month, Mrdsl with the pcp knowledge etc etc ? Have they all jumped ship.

I know a few moved over to joomla and smf (damn good software but still needs to use bridges) but surely there is more left then a handful.

Starting to feel like the battlestar galactica of portals....

Still am guessing its better to have a handful of dedicated staff than a whole host of half arsed ones. If theres anything I can ever do to help just ask <img>

PostAuthor: Helter » Mon Apr 03, 2006 2:41 am

Adrian has has some real life issues to deal with. He will be back, but not in full force for awhile.
Most of the staff lost interest after 140 was realeased because Wekke returned after 6-7 months and decided he didnt like our methods so he assumed full responsibility for his version of 141. I think everyone was a little peeved and felt unnecessary. Those of us who stayed were recently either, demoted, or removed from the staff by Wekke.
IM.com has many bugs, unfinished mods, a broken db and almost no support staff left. That is why it is so slow. I think as ppl find that we are here and IntegraMOD is healthy and still being developed, we will get very busy soon

I hope Adrian gets things sorted and back as and when he can...that guys a one man support network and has helped so many. His critique is excellent in the showcase section too.

I figured somethign had happened along those lines over at integramod.com it was apparent the board and database were right royaly screwed up too. Its a pity that pride and ego get in the way of decent software and a damn good community.

Perhaps all existing members in integramod.com that read this can change their profiles to reflect the details of this site and its larger support network? Of course that will only work until someone goes supernova and deletes user accoutns that mention this place <img>

Well just added it to mine.......he cant support, code and do everything himself.

The beginning of the end seemed to be when the live board was used for testing mods; from there it all went downhill IMHO.

From what i understand IM is not going to be furthered unless the guys here do so. Since they were held back from doing just that they created IM2 site for support and development of Integramod.

So not really 2 projects just 2 sites. One site is broken, gives next to no support and the other one is this one.

So what does that mean for 141? Is it scrapped?

And is Wekke continuing his 141? Or is it all still the same?

we really have no idea what Weeke is doing as he has made no post about it. Teelks version of 141 is NOT scraped. We have been working on it a little, but he has been ill, so we have been waiting for him to post his latest php5 compatibility findings. So far it seems rock solid on most versions of php5, but there were installation issues on a few php5 versions.

So is the IM 132 140 and 141 forums.

Well its too bad to have it fragmented the way you mention. I dont think its bad to have a release site and then a support site, as long as it is known and purposely set up that way.

Stuff like this can make people nervous because they will think their app won't be supported any more, and that's no good.

Off topic, in order to keep the support posts to a minimum, preventing dupes, the Knowledge Base HAS to be put together in a easy to use, easy to read, way or things are gonna get out of hand. Just MHO.

This may come off a bit blunt but it has to be said. Please don't any of the team members from integramod.com take any offense to this, it is solely my opinion and mine alone.

I was an IntegraMOD user for a long time ever since masterdavid started the project but I noticed a decline long before the events started with wekke recently. First of all the IntegraMOD project has a VERY hard time holding onto it's developers. They all seem to come and go as they please at various times. I've noticed a few (I won't mention any names) leave and return at least 2 to 3 times. I feel this hurts development alot. People namely phpBB MOD newbs depend on hybrids such as Integra for one reason or another whether they are scared to install MODs themselves or they are just plain lazy to do it themselves, etc. I personally lost faith in the project and went back to using a vanilla phpBB where support and updates were always exceptional and straightforward. This was apparent when IntegraMOD 1.4.0 was first released, There weren't many lead developers around and it took what seems like months for an upgrade script to be released from 1.3.2 to 1.4.0 which is unacceptable. Most of us took the task of doing it maually through phpmyadmin but to those who weren't comfortable doing it, they were at the mercy of waiting patiently and constantly inquiring only to be told "It will be done when it's done".

Masterdavid annouced that he was leaving but would be back but to this day I haven't seen him, crxgames left as well so did ednique, Alpaca and whoever else were original developers to this project. Like I said IntegraMOD is a good project but with so many developers and team members leaving it makes it's users and supporters loose faith and move on to something else. I know we all have lives and things no doubt arise from time to time but it always seems people's lives come between these kinds of projects and well things just go down the $h!tter from there. Projects such as this are always being abandoned only to be picked up by someone else only to be abandoned yet again.

What I would hope to see now would be a dedicated development team that would kind of streamline development and updates so that they are released in a more timely manner. Also I saw mentioned once before that the MODs included in integraMOD are so integrated that upgrading them is not possible but updating them to the latest versions would also be cool as some have newer features and bug fixes which should be incorporated as well. Anyway that's just my 2 cents take it for what it's worth. This post is in no way a flame just honest criticism from a longtime IntegraMOD user. I hope one day to return to the project but for the time being I am quite happy using a vanilla phpBB install. Thanks to those of you who have contributed to this projected over the years as your hard work has never been unappreciated. Thanks for reading!

One thing from my point of view is:

It must be damn hard to keep Integramod uptodate as you are at the mercy of so many mod writers and the never ending updates to phpBB.

I think the updates and upgrades are perfectly acceptable within the time limits they are released considering this is free software and makes no one out there any real money.

Just my 2 "pence" worth <img>

PS: good to see adrians name in the online box.

Re: So what happened

PostAuthor: Helter » Sun Apr 09, 2006 1:42 pm

to clear things up a bit... This site is not part of integramod.com. Wekke has appointed himself God of that site, but has not properly maintained it or the team. In fact he has disbanded the team because we didnt neccesarily agree with him on everything and we tried to save the community in his absence. He has now reinstated a few of the team that he believes will not interfere with his plans. I am sure he will release a new version of IM above 141, but it will not be a developer version, it will be his version. Since Wekke does not usually offer support, who then will support his version?

as for not being able to update the mods...that was in reference to Catagories Hierarchy and PCP. The latest Catagories Hierarchy changes the core phpbb files so drasticly that it is hardly phpbb anymore so most mods do not work with it. This is not an Integramod issue, it is a phpbb mod / CH issue. Also PCP dev has been discontinued by the author, due to the immence nature of CH.

It really is such a damn shame that one ego can destroy such a project.

Out of interest who actually owns the Im project? Yes i know its public material etc but masterdavid is still the originator yes?

If so perhaps contact him directly and see if he can offer assistance or even his stamp of approval on this current site.

I just know if i had worked hard on a project, passed it on to a team and then one person from that team destroyed it....I would be furious.

Anyway time can only tell what will happen but you got my support every step of the way for stepping in and saving the project. I said it before and cant say it enough...but thanks guys!

Mater David cannot be reached. Many ppl have tried. He had to make a living for his family, so he left IM in the hands of a team.

One question I have, based on what I see as happening. You have Wekke going on with his core team, and you have the developers here working on the same project from a different angle. At the end of the development cycle, this will lead to two completely different systems. Don't you think that IntegraMOD for both systems will become confusing to end users? Wouldn't it be better served to rename this project eventually, saying it is based on IntegraMOD? Just a thought.

Makes sense and am sure its something the team here are considering.

However does wekke have the right to call his "integramod" or does the team here have the right?

Just because a person is hosting / admin does not mean they can take a project away from a team does it?

Personally i feel wekke should say "hey guys you were right to carry on, apologies for being an ass. What say you develop IM 2.0 & i shall carry on with 1.XX" this would solve issues would it not?

I completely agree with you, and it would be nice to see a peaceful solution and reintegration of the projects. I'm just mentioning my thoughts in case of a "worst-case-scenario" situation. Either way, I just want to say I really appreciate everyone's hard work on this project (under whatever name it is/will be known by) <img>

Just been over at IM1 site and it seems wekke is going mad disabling any mention of IM2 site.....now thats just pathetic.

There is no room for egotistical meglomaniacs in a community project.

That said the biggest thing that will draw people away from his "live test" site would be an upgrade to latest verison of phpBB 2.0.20 not easy i am sure but how long will wekke take to complete this?

PostAuthor: Helter » Sun Apr 09, 2006 4:05 pm

so far as I can tell. The only "core" developer he has there is ron our team and is waiting to see if Wekke is going to be reasonable, before he commits to anything. All the other ppl he has called his core team have either been not heard from in months, or have posted in the admin section (which I have been removed from) that they will not be able to remain active. It is a public smoke screen

as for my future participation in this thread, I feel like I have been sucker'd into a fight with Wekke. This is not what I want. I think Wekke has burried himself and I would rather concentrate on our IM projects and fine tuning this site, so unless there is major news regarding Weeke, i will not publicly post about it anymore. I want you guy to know though that I do appreciate your support! Thank you

We really need a peaceful solution fast. We really dont need this drama. I just read Wekke's post and am stunned and dont know what to think.

I guess I'm here to stay though.

This kinda sucks!

It really does suck.

But to be honest Wekke will be around for a week or 2 then vanish again.

So keep the folks coming here if they need help and are not getting it where they are.

As for changing the name... Lets wait and see if Wekke wakes up.

I love integramod because MD was such a great guy. A great combo of developer and manager. This was the first project I had been apart of that really helped one another so well.

I learned everything I know about php and mysql from this project.

Lets keep it going and enjoy what we create together.

Well I'm going to continue to visit both sites with this probably as the primary. I just hope the project does not go the way of Minerva which was great and then the support and development just died. Which is why I moived to IM <img>

I love my integramod....and to be honest I came into quite late having tried a million and one different forums and not finding any I really liked.
So I don't know this self appointed god wekke...

but I will say Helter Skelter..Teel'c and Mike have been absolute angels and given me all the help I needed plus some. So if they are here so am I.. think of me like one of those annoying clingon type creatures...*cheeky grin*

Btw Helter...if you have Teel'c email can you pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Well after reading stuf over at the original IM site I feel sick and decided to move here.. I used to be known as ALFd ( Beta tester ) on the other forum.. Since you moved I can Use my normal Alias on the net <img>

I'm kinda dissapointed at the way things were going over there.. and After Adrian left I knew it was a bad omen..

I hope to see good things hapen here.. because I have made many sites on the integramod platform..

Re: So what happened

PostAuthor: Michaelo » Tue Apr 11, 2006 3:15 am

I spent a couple of hours trading PM's with Wekke, I suggested a compromise (not unlike one of the suggestions here) which would have fixed for the problem. I was hoping to broker a solution that everyone could work with but things have probably gone to far.

He remain convinced people are trying to take over his IntegraModà¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¦ He said MD gave him IntegraMod and has a PM to support this claim. I personally dont believe MD handed over the rights to IntegraMod to anyone person without informing the rest of the community it simply was not the way he did things.

IntegraMod and its constituent parts are released as Open Source. Therefore the discussion in relation to ownership is quite pointless, it belongs to everyone and no one. MD remains the copyright holder and always will.

Personally speaking I have no interest in any project / development site where one individual dictates the development. One of the prime statutes on which this site is based is the inclusion of all of the community in every aspect of the project.

Mike

Well, I like IntegraMOD, but I was a bit concerned about the lack of support (not that I've had many problems...) As for potential confusion in the future if there are 2 v1.4.1, why not rename this site's version to 2.0.1? After all, the site is called IntegraMOD 2 <img>

You know at forst that seemed the wrong thing to do but after thinking about it....all makes sense.

Why not start afresh with what we (the community) have thus far and rebrand. This would stop any confusion in the future and allow people to concentrate on one site.

I do not say this lightly though. I have watched the old IM site die a painful death and is what damn sad to see. From the reactions of the team here you can see it was not an easy decission to "mutiny" but they had no choice as the project was dieing.

The past week has seen no posts from wekke other than to accuse people of stealing (how do you steal an open source program?) and the rantings of a broken mind. I hope you get well soon wekke and sort your issues out....but like they say "the show must go on"

I think this would cause some confussion and dobt to alot of members from both sites. Also, we have already begun deliberation on ver 2.0. Mike has even started some development. Currently aloth depends on phpbb3 and its release date. I would hate to be knee deep in dev, only to have phpbb3 released and have to start all over. Lickily Michaelo is on the phpbb3 team and has been developing his portal for it. This will more than likely be the base for IM2.0. Hopefully this site war will be over asap so we can get back to what is important, support and development. <img>

Personally I doubt a rebranding will be needed.

Over the past few days alone the Post count has droped dramatically at im.com. Here the post count is getting higher daily.

If this is to continue Wekke will have killed his site. It is possible Wekke will finally sit down and do some coding to get a small upgrade out the door to keep people there. The problem will be that it will get very little support and people will get stuck when he vanishes again.

I think we should just keep going as is and see where things go from here. Take 1 day at a time as it were.

I just want to say I glad to see all you guys together. I posted on a lot of things on IM when I first d/l it at the original site, and it was reallly hard to get answers. And now it is better for sure. Plus when I click on a post it actually comes up and I don't get error 404 all the time like the other site.

Keep up the good work guys.

EON you summed up for most in saying that about the posts:

You get no errors here as its not being used as a test site (much :)

you know what really bugged me .. I nipped over there to find a post I had made and as soon as you log in you get this IMO sly diggy message..ok it mentions no names but is there any need for it.

Added to which I don't ever recall being told there wasn't a forum there, just that the main support team is here.

It kinda bugs me ...that's all

Strictly as a user... I fear this is going to get confusing as all get out, and BOTH sites are going to suffer because of it. <img>

I'm personally in WAY over my head with Integramod if it died I would have to start all over again with something else. I would love to see an easy to update bug fix released. To me whoever releases THAT first, will take over the users in limbo. The other site will be in trouble.

regardless of what the other site does, the only support comes from the staff who have moved here. We do ocassionally go there and support users with problems, but as this site gets bigger, there seems to be less and less time to go there. Eventually, users will either have to come here, or choose a different forum software

you can see for your self in the stats link.
This month Fubie, Adrian Simon, and Okki account for 60% of the posts

So, what happened to integramod.com? Did someone decide to that it wasn't worth keeping online anymore? I checked several times today, and each time, it appears to be down (completely erased?)

It looks as tho Wekke has returned AGAIN. This time with a new forum. It looks like he's testing it LIVE again.

I have no clue why he's doing things this way, but I'm glad we moved so it is not so disruptive to the community.

The fact that the main site was being used as a testing ground was very annoying for me. The support site should be EXACTLY like the board users can download and install themselves.

I wish wekke the best of luck in his project.

I feel it is a shame that this situation has arisen, but it has. Yes I can see wekke has put a new version on im.com, and in the brief moments I was able to login to his old 2.0 testing ground, he had managed to merge the original im.com database with a completely new phpbb hybrid. I say hybrid as it is not integraMOD as we know it nor is it close, but it was what wekke was working on before his illness. This shows how skillful wekke is in maintaining the link between the two main entities in integramod (the code and the database).

I am waiting for a reply from wekke (which I might get <img>) to see what his plans are.

I think it was from the lack of time on the org IM site that might of done this, I loged into IM day after day and all I seen way empty support questions.. and it don't look like it here.

I also notice IM is down, I know you got a back up and all, but thats just a shame.. A real shame.

as it looked for a few days its just a phpbb forum with nothing on it.

A, sorry to see your having family problems, hope all is well.

I am hoping for all the best on this site, just lets hope nothing goes bad with this site, IM is a great project and it would be foolish to have it all gone by a small fude or what ever it may be.

Wow. Looks like Wekke is rather ambitious. I just cruised past IntegraMOD and there is a note saying "updating to integramod 2.0 php5 and mysql 5 ready"

How could he have possibly done that on his own?

From what it looks like, I think he's using a pre-beta version of phpbb 3.

it looks to me like ptirhiik's premodded CH board. That is his custom theme

http://ptifo.clanmckeen.com/index.php
and yes it is php5 compatible, but it is not compatible with almost every mod in IM. We already gave that one a go before we decided to debug and release what we have and concentrate on KISS Portal

Ya, your right. I wonder if Wekke has gotten ptirhiik to help get IM to 2.0. If there is anyone capable of doing it in such a short amount of time it's ptirhiik. The guy is a genius.

not possible, ptirhiik is too busy working on CH 2.1.5. It has been in beta for awhile now

also with CH 2.1.5., there is little left of phpbb, so when a phpbb update is released, it will be extremely difficult to implement. It will probably have to wait till ptirhiik codes it himself

But is it possible that Wekke did it on his own in the span of a weak? Or is an "upgrade" just a desperate attempt to save the site and bring people back. I mean, it took a ton of people a huge amount of time to upgrade IM 1.3.2d to 1.4.0 and create an upgrade path for users to upgrade there sites.

http://dev.integramod.com/forum/index.php

I couldnd find the copy that has IMportal and probably a dozen other mods on it. This is just the one I was building fisubice on. It is the CH 2.1.5 RC5 premod. Between Michaelo and Teelk, they did it in 2 days

This was just a test to see how userfriendly CH 2.1.5 is. It is not friendly to modding at all. It is very cool in the acp, but every mod would have to be rewritten to work with it, and like the trouble Wekke will have if this is what he is using, it will be a major recode everytime phpbb releases an update. Im sure it would not be appropriate for me to let slip the current dev path for IM3, but as plans become more clear Im sure the Devs will keep you informed. Ill tell you this though, After my first discussion with Mike on this I had a hard time sleeping! Not sure if it was because it was so cool, or becasue I need to get a life...lol
jk....very cool

That looks like latest phpBB with Categories hierarchy ...you can download the premodded version and then add some bits.

I personally got 404 errors all over the place and he says he is releasing that to the community????? Is the guy trying to ruin a project or help one?

Seemed quite apt that I click on the staff link and get "404 not found"
