Well its too bad to have it fragmented the way you mention. I dont think its bad to have a release site and then a support site, as long as it is known and purposely set up that way.

Stuff like this can make people nervous because they will think their app won't be supported any more, and that's no good.

Off topic, in order to keep the support posts to a minimum, preventing dupes, the Knowledge Base HAS to be put together in a easy to use, easy to read, way or things are gonna get out of hand. Just MHO.

This may come off a bit blunt but it has to be said. Please don't any of the team members from integramod.com take any offense to this, it is solely my opinion and mine alone.

I was an IntegraMOD user for a long time ever since masterdavid started the project but I noticed a decline long before the events started with wekke recently. First of all the IntegraMOD project has a VERY hard time holding onto it's developers. They all seem to come and go as they please at various times. I've noticed a few (I won't mention any names) leave and return at least 2 to 3 times. I feel this hurts development alot. People namely phpBB MOD newbs depend on hybrids such as Integra for one reason or another whether they are scared to install MODs themselves or they are just plain lazy to do it themselves, etc. I personally lost faith in the project and went back to using a vanilla phpBB where support and updates were always exceptional and straightforward. This was apparent when IntegraMOD 1.4.0 was first released, There weren't many lead developers around and it took what seems like months for an upgrade script to be released from 1.3.2 to 1.4.0 which is unacceptable. Most of us took the task of doing it maually through phpmyadmin but to those who weren't comfortable doing it, they were at the mercy of waiting patiently and constantly inquiring only to be told "It will be done when it's done".

Masterdavid annouced that he was leaving but would be back but to this day I haven't seen him, crxgames left as well so did ednique, Alpaca and whoever else were original developers to this project. Like I said IntegraMOD is a good project but with so many developers and team members leaving it makes it's users and supporters loose faith and move on to something else. I know we all have lives and things no doubt arise from time to time but it always seems people's lives come between these kinds of projects and well things just go down the $h!tter from there. Projects such as this are always being abandoned only to be picked up by someone else only to be abandoned yet again.

What I would hope to see now would be a dedicated development team that would kind of streamline development and updates so that they are released in a more timely manner. Also I saw mentioned once before that the MODs included in integraMOD are so integrated that upgrading them is not possible but updating them to the latest versions would also be cool as some have newer features and bug fixes which should be incorporated as well. Anyway that's just my 2 cents take it for what it's worth. This post is in no way a flame just honest criticism from a longtime IntegraMOD user. I hope one day to return to the project but for the time being I am quite happy using a vanilla phpBB install. Thanks to those of you who have contributed to this projected over the years as your hard work has never been unappreciated. Thanks for reading!

One thing from my point of view is:

It must be damn hard to keep Integramod uptodate as you are at the mercy of so many mod writers and the never ending updates to phpBB.

I think the updates and upgrades are perfectly acceptable within the time limits they are released considering this is free software and makes no one out there any real money.

Just my 2 "pence" worth <img>

PS: good to see adrians name in the online box.

Re: So what happened

PostAuthor: Helter » Sun Apr 09, 2006 12:42 pm

to clear things up a bit... This site is not part of integramod.com. Wekke has appointed himself God of that site, but has not properly maintained it or the team. In fact he has disbanded the team because we didnt neccesarily agree with him on everything and we tried to save the community in his absence. He has now reinstated a few of the team that he believes will not interfere with his plans. I am sure he will release a new version of IM above 141, but it will not be a developer version, it will be his version. Since Wekke does not usually offer support, who then will support his version?

as for not being able to update the mods...that was in reference to Catagories Hierarchy and PCP. The latest Catagories Hierarchy changes the core phpbb files so drasticly that it is hardly phpbb anymore so most mods do not work with it. This is not an Integramod issue, it is a phpbb mod / CH issue. Also PCP dev has been discontinued by the author, due to the immence nature of CH.

It really is such a damn shame that one ego can destroy such a project.

Out of interest who actually owns the Im project? Yes i know its public material etc but masterdavid is still the originator yes?

If so perhaps contact him directly and see if he can offer assistance or even his stamp of approval on this current site.

I just know if i had worked hard on a project, passed it on to a team and then one person from that team destroyed it....I would be furious.

Anyway time can only tell what will happen but you got my support every step of the way for stepping in and saving the project. I said it before and cant say it enough...but thanks guys!

Mater David cannot be reached. Many ppl have tried. He had to make a living for his family, so he left IM in the hands of a team.

One question I have, based on what I see as happening. You have Wekke going on with his core team, and you have the developers here working on the same project from a different angle. At the end of the development cycle, this will lead to two completely different systems. Don't you think that IntegraMOD for both systems will become confusing to end users? Wouldn't it be better served to rename this project eventually, saying it is based on IntegraMOD? Just a thought.

Makes sense and am sure its something the team here are considering.

However does wekke have the right to call his "integramod" or does the team here have the right?

Just because a person is hosting / admin does not mean they can take a project away from a team does it?

Personally i feel wekke should say "hey guys you were right to carry on, apologies for being an ass. What say you develop IM 2.0 & i shall carry on with 1.XX" this would solve issues would it not?

I completely agree with you, and it would be nice to see a peaceful solution and reintegration of the projects. I'm just mentioning my thoughts in case of a "worst-case-scenario" situation. Either way, I just want to say I really appreciate everyone's hard work on this project (under whatever name it is/will be known by) <img>

Just been over at IM1 site and it seems wekke is going mad disabling any mention of IM2 site.....now thats just pathetic.

There is no room for egotistical meglomaniacs in a community project.

That said the biggest thing that will draw people away from his "live test" site would be an upgrade to latest verison of phpBB 2.0.20 not easy i am sure but how long will wekke take to complete this?

Re: So what happened

PostAuthor: Helter » Sun Apr 09, 2006 3:05 pm

so far as I can tell. The only "core" developer he has there is ron our team and is waiting to see if Wekke is going to be reasonable, before he commits to anything. All the other ppl he has called his core team have either been not heard from in months, or have posted in the admin section (which I have been removed from) that they will not be able to remain active. It is a public smoke screen

as for my future participation in this thread, I feel like I have been sucker'd into a fight with Wekke. This is not what I want. I think Wekke has burried himself and I would rather concentrate on our IM projects and fine tuning this site, so unless there is major news regarding Weeke, i will not publicly post about it anymore. I want you guy to know though that I do appreciate your support! Thank you

We really need a peaceful solution fast. We really dont need this drama. I just read Wekke's post and am stunned and dont know what to think.

I guess I'm here to stay though.

This kinda sucks!

It really does suck.

But to be honest Wekke will be around for a week or 2 then vanish again.

So keep the folks coming here if they need help and are not getting it where they are.

As for changing the name... Lets wait and see if Wekke wakes up.

I love integramod because MD was such a great guy. A great combo of developer and manager. This was the first project I had been apart of that really helped one another so well.

I learned everything I know about php and mysql from this project.

Lets keep it going and enjoy what we create together.

Well I'm going to continue to visit both sites with this probably as the primary. I just hope the project does not go the way of Minerva which was great and then the support and development just died. Which is why I moived to IM <img>

I love my integramod....and to be honest I came into quite late having tried a million and one different forums and not finding any I really liked.
So I don't know this self appointed god wekke...

but I will say Helter Skelter..Teel'c and Mike have been absolute angels and given me all the help I needed plus some. So if they are here so am I.. think of me like one of those annoying clingon type creatures...*cheeky grin*

Btw Helter...if you have Teel'c email can you pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
