Registration email link problem

PostAuthor: Vadar » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:07 am

I have the options set on my portal so that it requires user activation of accounts. Sometimes users are unable to complete the registration process because the email that is sent to them has the registration confirmation link broken up on to two or more lines, such as in this example:

http://www.navyjrotc.us/portal/profile. ... 170&act_k=

ey=3D4490bedg6df9

Is there a way to prevent this from happening, or is it a problem related to the email program that particular user is using at the time?

Thanks!

I personally think thisis a browser issue as in outlook, it works fine when wrapped. In your example it looks like there is a double carriage return on the wrap which probably breaks the link. Also, to have a link that long and for it to be wrapped, the user either has a small creen res or should widen their mails more!

It could also be a problem with the person's virus scanning tool. I've seen that happen as the emails pass through the virus scanning before being deposited into their email.

Thanks for the input. I had to put the extra carriage return above in order to get it to "wrap" inside the post. There isn't a carriage return when it actually happens.

I get the feeling it must be related to either screen res or the virus scan suggestion, as I have seen it work fine and work as per the example above in the same software (MSOutlook, for example). I was hoping that perhaps there was a setting in the ACP I was missing, but I guess not.

As an update, I've heard that if you put a url within angle brackets will prevent it from being broken on to two or more lines. (like this: <url>)

If I wanted to modify the outgoing link to place it within angle brackets like this, what file would I need to edit to make it happen?

Thanks,
