[solved] How do you post news?

PostAuthor: Apocal » Sun Jun 18, 2006 11:30 pm

In the past it all you had to do to post a news is to basically make a dedicated forum for the news and to post it through tbere. I have my news set up, but am unable to find the option to post anything as news. I know that this is probably an easy fix, but I can't find it. I have looked through both of the forums and all of the knowledge bases on this.

Also, what exactly are reports and how are they a benefit?

Hmm.. I did a search on the kb and that didn't come up <img>. Regardless however, I thought that you didn't need to create a new category and could just use the ones that were in there to post the news. I am still working on creating new images.

There are no news categories set at startup. You can use the icons available in the news categories section but personalised ones always look better.

I realise what the problem was with your KB search. phpBB has a list of stopwords that if used in the search string, they are ignored. So in your search, "news" returns 0 results, however "localise" (because we know about that now!) returns the "How to make a news Forum". The problem is stopwords are a double-edged sword.

I think it may be a good idea here if we took news out of the stopwords on this site as it is a main search variable and not used like "php" or "what". I will put it to the team <img>

Neither this thread or the KB article is being very helpful to me. I'm running IntegraMod 1.4 and have been trying to configure my portal page. I, too, have been trying to figure out how to use the news block, finally turning to the KB for an answer. When I got to this part of the article:

Configuring your News
Firstly you need to make sure you have set the configuration correctly.

1. Go Admin > News Admin > Configuration > Enable news posting - Yes

this is where I ran into trouble. Specifically, where the hell is Admin > News Admin ?! Is it in the ACP? If so, I can't find it anywhere in my install. Help!!!
