[BUG] Remove User From Group in groupcp

PostAuthor: computerskillz » Sat Jul 01, 2006 7:32 pm

Hi,

when removing a user from a group via groupcp, that user still has access to forums and links that only members of the group should have access to.

Occurs in all browsers
Group set to "users automatically added when posting"
Group status = closed
Occurs when user removed from group via groupcp
Forum permissions for view/read/post/reply set to private
Group permissions marked "allowed access" for forum
User level set to user
User is not a moderator

[BUG] user still has acess to forums and links that only members of the group should have access to.

have you checked on users admin permissions to see if they have been granted access there?

also, is this user an admin? Have they been given moderator status?

The answers may all be no but worth checking.

Hi,

User level for user is set to User
and no user has no moderator status.

Nothing critical for me right now.. I just wanted to report it so you guys could be aware of it for the next IM release <img>

I don't think it's a bug. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only way a user can be automatically added to a group is if there's a post restriction? i.e: when user reaches xx amount of posts he/she is automatically added. If you manually remove the user, the system would just overide you, b/c that user meets the criteria/post count to add he/she to that group. If you wish to limit access to this group I don't think you can use the "user automatically added" function.

I once had a group set so that user/s were automatically added when they reached the set amount of posts. I tried to manually add some users before they reached the set amount of posts. This did work for a short time "minutes/hours" However, the system did keep removing those users b/c they did not meet the group criteria. I think this is the opposite, of your problem, which makes me think that it's not a bug, and it's just the system following your settings. Hope that helps <img>

^^

I see what you're saying, and I did consider that previously. But however there should be a considtent flow of logic in the script. In other words, "Remove" should always equal "Remove" throughout the script. If a user is "removed" then he/she should be "removed"...period, else the purpose of a group moderator, group owner, etc is nullified if a user still has access to something which the group owner no longer wants them to have access to, hence the action of "removing" that user from the group.

-------------
On a side note, which is not actually a bug, but perhaps an oversight, there should be a way in the ACP to remove users from groups. You can add users to groups in the ACP. So quite naturally you should be able to remove a user from groups in the ACP as well.
