Hi guys any suggestions and help gratefully received

I appear to be locked out of the admin panel.

My other admins can access but the main Admin account redirects me to the splash page...

I dunno what is wrong with it...we haven't changed the username or password on the account and it was working fine until this morning.

I have TTY login script running to prompt for Admin panel Access, this is working fine..it lets me in as ebony. But blocks me when I try to get in as the main admin...

and I have checked the cgi bin for new files and passwords

I have checked the cpanel for redirects

Kinda lost now...help please

I am using IE6 and FF 5.0 and I wasn't doing anything I went in the main admin account about 2 days ago to look at the phpbbmyadmin copied the info I needed ...changed nothing....left now it has this blasted redirect.

Sorry Ebony I have never used Cpanel, Think helter and Adrian have... Are you still locked out?

someone suggested it might be a XSS exploit but I can't find any trace of one

I mean It is not like major league dire because I can still get into the admin panel as Ebony it's just the User number 2 main admin is completely locked out. And of course phpmyadmin is inaccesible.

I was going to try uploading the info for user 2 from my test forum into the main forum. see if that unlocks it.

this happened to me once before, and at the same time, my other admins, and my "dummy" admin acct could not unlock the acct.

i replaced the phpbb user table with a backup i had and i was able to get in, and all the priviledges that my admins and staff had lost were back.

hope this helps you some, don't hold me to anything though, seems like nothing i do this morning is right, even had to rewash my dishes <img>

and have you checked for number of allowed admins in security mod admin?

unless she logged in as founder and gave her user/admin account access to the security modual, I dont think she will be able to access it.
Why do you not have access to phpmyadmin? This link should be in your CPanel; not the ACP
You should try to assign your founder account a user id way above your last registered user, then assign your own user id (probably #3) to user id #2
That should let you in as board founder and you should be able to fix things from there

to be honest my main concern is why the user *methos* can't access the admin panel like at all. And no that account can still access the cpanel as far as I know

methos is user 2 Helter honeybee. And nope it lets you into the forum itself but not the admin panel. If you have a free couple of mins helter/adrian I can pm the details of the account over and you can see just what I mean...I will give you mine and methos....login details.

nope you is right Helter ...it tells me " Sorry, you're not authorized to view/change these settings."

will try what cleo suggested worked for her... and if that doesn't work then hopefully adrian might find something in the cpanel.

An interesting point I have found in your user lisy in ACP, there are 2 entries above Methos. the first is a removed user and Bert has an ID of 3. Do you know if Bert was the original board founder?

Hey guys.....first off I want to say thank you for all your help. <img>

And yeah I've noticed that in the user list too, and I have no idea why that is. Bert wasn't the original founder, that's always been me. I have no idea why it's displaying like that.

Not sure what's going on.....last night I replaced the entire user table with a backup taken from before all this weirdness started happening.....and that had absoulutely no effect.

Thing is, I just realised today that I had coding written into the htaccess file that would redirect you to the splash page in case of a "page not found" error. I've temporarily removed that, and now upon trying to access the admin panel, I get "page cannot be found". So now I am even more stumped than before.....how can the page not be found when it's fine for every other member?

UPDATE: Yay I am back in!!! <img>

Ok so I can access the admin panel again. I deleted the entire admin folder and uploaded a backup copy I had from about a month ago. I don't know exactly how it worked, but I guess whatever was in there causing the problem got wiped out, cos I am in again!!!!

Again guys....thanks so much for all your help. Now if I only knew what had exactly caused it, so it could be prevented from happening to me or someone else again......
