Moving my IM site

PostAuthor: Bush » Tue Apr 11, 2006 9:07 pm

I'm getting ready for a big move of my IntegraMOD website.

I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE ANYTHING.

I know how to backup my database and restore the database. Is it as easy as copying over the files that are in /portal/ which is the root dir or integramod for me over to the new server and then restore the mysql dump?

Thanks

You should consider setting up a local server on your own PC. That way you always have a copy should the gremlins come knocking...

But to answer your question....yes it is that easy. Except for one thing config.php will need editing to reflect the new database name/username/password. Also some of your ftp settings may need updating.

My advice..backup site (then zip it up and store it) back it up once more and use that one for copying over. Backup database via phpmyadmin , do the same in taking 2 backups and be sure to include all data.

I say make 2 simply as a precaution.

Is it possible to stirp out users/posts and such from a database and move it into another? The reason I ask is bringing on another site and I allready have it running but like a moron, named the Db different.
