What's the difference between IntegraMOD 2.0 rc2 and the upgrades being offered on this site?

2.0 rc2 was written from the ground-up in PHP 5. So the bits are entirely different. Also, if you don't have php5 on your server, some code will not work. It also contains a modified version of Categories Hierarchy.

With Categories Hierarchy you say almost everything about 2.0
2.0 has the latest update of Categories Hierarchy,
1.4.x uses an older version

It is known that the latest Categories Hierarchy changes phpBB so much, it won't be compatible with most existing phpbbhacks anymore, so you will find much less working additions in 2.0
...but it's faster

The problem with installing it is that all of your other server mods have to be php5 compatible as well.

I think wekke jumped the gun on that one. He should have waited until the rest of the world catches up with php 5. But it seems to me that he reacted out of some kind of bravado to prove something to the other integra team who started this board.

There's too many apps and mods out there that are not php 5 compatible yet, and until they are I'm not updgrading my server yet just to accomodate integramod 2.0. I'll stick with this line of development right here.

he is also developing on a dead forum. phpBB2.xx will soon be history. our version 2.0 which i suppose will now be named something else, is built on phpBB3 and uses KIS portal to build pages and content, instead of IM Portal which will not be compatible with phpBB3. Also CH will not be necessary with our version because most of the features are already native to phpBB3

I just hope that we don't lose any functionality with the new KIS portal. Everything I do on my site depends heavily on the IMPortal, whether its adding custom html to blocks, block management, visibility for guests, members, usergroups, page management, etc.. my site lives or dies on this stuff.

If KIS means that I can't do any of the above, then I'll be stuck with the current Integramod version for a while until it does. I'm also concerned with going to a full phpbb3-based realese right away, as the bits may still be unstable upon release. When dealing with code, I always prefer waiting awhile before installing new versions, especially in production.

Yes, most hosts are still using PHP 4. Even if they are using PHP 5, some are providing options for you to use PHP 4. My host provides a switch so that you can switch between PHP 4, 5 and 6, but I mostly use 4.

And PHP.net is still providing update for PHP 4, therefore it's not dead.

And I can see from IntegraMOD 2.0 that most of the things are broken. If you have noticed if you click the "New Posts" for a topic, it gives a SQL syntax error. And it's so much uglier than IntegraMOD 1.4.0.

A secret: That is the old IM 1.4.0 board. You might be surprised that his profile ID is 2, but he actually uses MasterDavid's account.

Yea, I quite like IM Portal. Part of the reason I use IntegraMOD is because of IM Portal. I know I can download IM Portal, but I prefer IntegraMOD with IM Portal.

As for phpBB3, I suggest waiting for the first Release Candidate before doing anything. Of course, planning should be done now, since the Betas are available (1.5 years after they said they are going to release the Beta, in Feb 2005).
