How to change RSS link from portal.php to viewtopic.php?

The HREF for RSS links to your site's news_rss.php feed appear as

http]portal.php[/b]?topic_id=foo

I would like to change the HREF to point to the actual thread itself, i.e

http]viewtopic.php[/b]?t=foo

The former way, when clicked takes you to the top of your portal, where a visitor may not know to scroll all the way down the center block of the portal (if thats where your news block is) to look for the post. Not to mention, a thread with 10 or more posts can really stretch the portal page, where if thats someone's first visit to your site via seeing your feed, then they may not be too impressed with the layout.

I would like for visitors via the RSS link to be taken to the actual thread, rather than the portal (I don't understand why it was coded this way anyway.....why not take people to the thread in the first.
