I have one user who showed me that when he has no new messages it says "65533 new messages" up at the top of the forum. Upon clicking on that message he sees his empty inbox. When he has new messages, they add onto the 65533...

Any ideas why only one user has this issue? He says he encounters it at home and at school.

What MODs have you added to your board that may affect post count?

Perhaps I didn't state clearly my issue. It doesn't affect his postcount. It's his private message link up in the top row of links. If he has no new messages, it says he has '65534 new messages' but when he clicks the link it takes him to his empty pm inbox.

I have added no mods other than Advanced BBCode, security fixes, and template tweaks perhaps... nothing that would affect this situation that I can think of. Plus the fact that it seems to only affect one user.

I seem to recall a database deal that set user's new private messages to zero? Is that a possible fix?

I fixed this at least temporarily. I went into my database and found 5 users with wack unread message totals. I reset them all to 0 and that seems to have fixed the issue.
