Hackers hacked my forum and replaced the index page with their own hacked page. Do I need to reinstall the whole forum or can i replace the index page to over-write their page again???

Thanks for your help as I don't want to lose the information and layout of my forum.

Hi

If all they have done is hacked your index file then delete it and upload a fresh backed up copy....

If you havn't added anything to the file then get a copy from here and upload it...

Also make sure your site is up to date....

I am assuming you are still using 1.4.0 and an older phpbb version... there is an exploit that was fixed to stop hackers, so I do suggest to upgrade asap...

Thanks a lot mate, I was able to upload the index.php and it went back to normal. I just need to figure out how to use the upgrade. It says to upload all the files in the folder, but apart from the readme file I can only find one other file in the install folder called db_update_to_141.php

Do you have any suggestions?
