I keep getting this error message pm


Your Daily Database Backup Failed.


Any idea how I can fix this?

Dosent work for me with a windows install? I wonder if others are having problems?

It's the Cron failing.

ACP -> General Admin -> Optimize DB. You can disable the Cron there.

As for the reasons your Cron is failing, I can't help there. I'm having the same issue.

Have you upgraded to the latest version of phpBB Security (v 1.0.3)? phpBB Security was broken with the 2.0.19 (or was it 2.0.18?) upgrade. The only fix for it is to make sure you have installed Security v1.0.3. If you are still having problems, then make sure that your backup directory exists and that it is world writable (CHMOD 777).

I'm not sure why everyone is mentioning the DB Optimize though....

I can be wrong but this issue has by my skill nothing to do with the phpbb security or the 2.0.17, 2.0.18, 2.0.19 or 2.0.20, i have try many things on the server and on my local site, with all updates, one local server on windows with Wamp it works fine, where i host it it don't work, and that is not all what don't work by this problem, if you want to place a new banner on top or samewhere els you get a access denied to this server.

And by optimize DB you can not set cron enabled, same problem, access denied to this server.

I'm having the same issues ie: backups, banner giving access denied.
I'm running security update 1.0.3 and 2.0.20.

Read his problem again. He did not say anythign about Optimizing the databse. He said, he gets a PM that the Backups have failed.

You are talking about a totally different problem.

I recently migrated to a new server host provider, and although backups worked on the previous SHP, they are now failing. Pseudocron is turned on but I am receiving the same PM regarding "Database Backup Failed". Note that a zip file is being created in the backup directory every day, but the size is zero. Digests are also working properly, which I understand also relies on the cron function.

SHP = HostGator; PHP 4.4.1; cPanel Admin
IM 1.4.0; phpBB 2.20; phpBB Security 1.0.3

Check your permissions on the backup folder (CHMOD 777).

Check - it was/is set to 777.

Is it a Windows Host or a Unix Host? Windows might need the IUSR account given read/write/modify access. If this is the case, you might have to contact your host to see if they can set it. Unless it can be done in cPanel.

Optimizing the databse is the same problem, i have two hosts both unix, both same install, included updates. by one it works fine and by the other it don't, all issues have to do with the server/software where it is running, but the link above tells the same, and there still no solution.
