Spellcheck Dictionary Setup

PostAuthor: tmotley » Wed May 10, 2006 4:24 pm

The last time I tried to set up the dictionary for the spellcheck, it shut down my site because of the large number of requests.

Here is my request from someone really nice: Could someone provide downloads of the dictionaries split into sizes that might not be too big or could someone give me detailed instructions how to do it myself?

Dictionary 1 is about 100,000 words I think. Is it reasonable to split it into blocks of 10,000 words and save as "Dictionary01.dic" , "Dictionary02.dic" and so on? Does formatting matter? When I open the original file in CrimsonEditor, it goes through an analyzing then a formatting deal before opening the file...

Hi.

I think you only have to separate the words with "ENTER" so every word is in a new line and you have to name the files yyyyy.dic.
You can import as many dics as you want. You can use windows wordpad for that.
But normally the standard dic files included in the integradmod install should cause no problems when trying to import them.

Greetings
Thorsten

Well, I ended up making a sequence of dictionary files with 5000 words in each file. I can put in about 4 of these without difficulty with overloading my board. Over the next week, I'll just install them little by little. The ones I've done seemed to install just fine.

check out this cause if u have more than 1 forum running on the 1 host it can reduce the size of the forum back up & save u storage space.

So does this mean that I can split the original .DIC files into smaller ones without having to mod any other files? My host provider won't allow file sizes larger than 500KB, so the .DIC files that come with IntegraMod can't be uploaded to my server space because they're more than double that.

Yes, I just used Crimson Editor. Copy and paste large sections of words (just be sure there is one word per line) into new document and name each new document something like dictionary01.dic
