Goofy Cache Problem...Just to rattle your brain

PostAuthor: Master Dwarf » Fri May 12, 2006 10:24 am

Helter Skelter touched on this while addressing my pips problem in the updated Fsubice theme.

I have strange things happening on my site from time to time and I believe it is directly related to cache.

I am running IMv1.4 with all updates in place. I have also double checked all the cache-related folders and files for correct permission settings. Reminded by this thread.

If I disable the cache in ACP-IMPortal-Config everything is ok but I think I may lose a bit of performance. :)

Signed,
Stumped

Just in case, is this the same if you use a different pc/browser?

Adrian-I'd have to check. I have lost track of some of the details. I use linux on my main destop with Firefox. Also use FF on windows laptop, but will give this a go on the laptop to provide more details.

It was just a wild stab, I suspect it is not that, but just trying to cover all angles.

This can be marked 'solved'. Seems as though one of the updates has fixed this problem. I have cache enabled and all the colors switch over no problem.

-User access. I assigned a user as a moderator to 2 forums. He somehow could not login because his profile, upon login, would say that it appears that he was provided admin rights but admin has not assigned him any access and can therefore not log into the site and to contact the admin for the properly assigned priviledges. Sorry I dont recall the exact error. I had logged in no problem using his profile so I think it may be a cookie thing. I had others try and they got the same error as the user. So it was not a computer/cookie thing on the regular user end. I took away all his moderator stuff and made him a regular user and this problem went away. Clearing cache on the server did nothing to resolve this.
That particular problem, if you're still having it, is from not setting the correct number of moderators in ACP>Security>Special. Before setting anyone with Admin, Jr. Admin, or Moderator status, make sure to increase the number of allowed Admins and Mods. Jr. Admins count as Moderators.
