Hi
I uploaded and unzipped the 1.4 package on my server and ran the install program and entered the info that is very similar to a phpbb2 install. I created a new database and thought I had no problems. I received the screen that said I deleted the install and prill_install directories click to continue. I deleted them and clicked next and got

as an error. I am unable to proceed any further.
I tried another install without prillian and got the same error.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong. This is my first install of integramod.
Thanks so much,
Brian

No this is to do with a pre installed MOD called the Force to read topic MOD. It was set to enabled from the install. Once you have installed and amended your profile details, Go ACP>FTR Management and disable it.
Sorry, it was a pain that it was set as active.

Thanks Adrian,
Curious behavior from the integramod I am experiencing. I was unable to see any page associated with the integramod earlier. I received the banned from website message on all pages. Forum index, admin url and any other url I typed in. I went to my sons ballgame for a few hours and when I returned the forum index appeared when I typed it the url. When I entered the admin username and password I received the banned page again. I do not know how the access the ACP at this time.
I cleared my cache and cookies a few times and played around with the same result. I even tried from another computer.
Can I install it without that being set to active?
The url is

I'm logged into your site now. No banned messages appear. You may want to ask a friend to try and log in as admin, or try from a different house or something. Not sure what's going on from your end, but looks good on this end.

I can't figure this out. I am able to create a new user, no problem. I can login and browse with that user. As soon as I enter the admin name and password created during the integramod phpbb setup routine I instantly receive

You have been blocked because you have permission to be staff, but the admins did not grant you permission in the security panel.
I logged in from a different wireless router with a different ipaddress than what I normally use. I deleted and reinstalled several times in an attempt to correct this. I have installed phpbb2 about 30 times with no problems and this routine seems as easy as those.
Could this be some chmod thing or something else that someone knows about. This is frustrating so thanks with any help in advance.
What is the deal with the admin config and mod config names?

when you tried your fresh installs, did you delete and re-create the databases as well? If you are in a rush, I can try to install it for you. If you are comfortable w/that, PM or email me your cPanel/ftp info. along w/the username and password you want. Passwords can always be changed after installation. Wish I could do more to help. If you can hold out for a bit, I'm sure the big dogs here can figure it out, but if you need it right away just contact me.........

Thanks Threat
I appreciate the offer and if I don't get this resolved will certainly seek you out. So thanks that is very nice of you.
I am in no real rush. So perhaps someone will respond with a helpful bit of advice.
I did delete and create new databases when I performed additonal installations. The portal functions correctly in regards to it's operation and ability to create users and sending confirmation emails and all that.
The big hangup is access the ACP. As soon as I enter admin and the password I created I get you are banned message. There is probably something simple I am missing.
Bottonm line is I
1. uploaded the zip file to a forum directory on the site and decompressed it.
2.Ran install/install.php
3.Entered the DB info for intergramod that I created just for integramod with all valid information.
4.Deleted the install and prill_install directory when prompted and clicked continue.
5. Am able to see the forum but locked out when trying to enter the ACP.
6. Not sure what the security settings do. admin config and mod config and one other forget offhand what it is. But entered a username for those. In this case simply admin.
So in any event I am sure I will get it straightened out but it seems like something associated with the ACP login is at error here.
Thanks so much for the help

Prolly a dumb question but, when you try to access the ACP do you actually use the word "admin" for your username? B/c if that is the case you will not be able to gain access unless you use the username and pass you created at time of set up. The word admin will only work if that is in fact the username you set up.

Just looking around the issue, did you have 3 failed login attempts? Are you using AOL?
If you wish to pm me cpanel info I could look at it? or it you are happy to you can go into phpmyadmin and lookup the phpbb_users table and see if you are locked on your a/c
Did you add another admin to the team?

thanks for the info you sent me, and I found some interesting things. For the file structure, I found all directory chmod permissions to be 705 when they would normally be 755 or 777. All files were 644 regardless. This is not good and was probably caused in the unzipping proces.
Secondly on this install you have given the allowed mods and admins the same variable name. I recommend a fresh install, checking chmods are correct from the start.

Thanks Adrian,
It makes sense. I didn't play with the chmod because I thought the unzip style install set them correctly.
I will do a fresh install and chmod everthing. The reason I set mods and admin the same was because it was my third install and trying to figure what wouldn't work. I guess I got ahead of myself.
In any event thank you and I will reinstall.

Go ACP>FTR Management and disable it.

Before you install, go to your forum root/install/mysql_basic.sql
find
- Code: Select all
INSERT INTO `phpbb_force_read` VALUES (1, 'Please read the following post as it contains important update information pertaining to this forum.', 0, 1, 1);
replace it with
- Code: Select all
INSERT INTO `phpbb_force_read` VALUES (1, 'Please read the following post as it contains important update information pertaining to this forum.', 0, 0, 1);
then install as usual. This should set FTR to disabled at install

I can't get into the site at all....totally blocked from entering any of the pages. I'll have to do another install and try what HelterSkelter suggest.
Hopefully it'll turn out good.
Thanx for the support guys <img>

What message is displayed when you try to log in? did you have 3 failed login attempts? Do you get a blank screen?

What I am asking was, does it tell you you are banned? if yes, you may be able to edit your user profile in phpmyadmin. If you just get a blank screen, there may be other issues at stake. can you register as a new user? does it clear if you clear your cookies?
If you do not solve it now, you do not want to re-install in a year's time when your board is established.

I ran into this same problem when I upgraded from 1.3.2d to 1.4.0 .
My problem was that I have 17 moderators and 5 admin (yeah yeah I know) and the PHPBB Security settings were defaulted to (i think, if I remember right) 2 admin and zero moderators. For some reason this was causing the banned message to be viewed by everyone though.
Either way changing the maximum allowed admin/moderators solved it.
::shrugs::
I think the upgrade path from 1.3.2d to 1.4.0 is excellent! way easy! I would just suggest that the phpbb security be defaulted to some insane number (like 15 admin and 100 moderators) just put a message in the instructions that it should be changed to a more reasonable number to fit your forums.
Then again that could be kindof confusing for some <img>
Anyways, I wanted to share my solution to this problem. When you have more admins than allowed...i'm not sure which ones get banned, but I just ended up getting into the oldest admin account (if you can't remember the password and the email address is inactive, a simple copy and paste of the MD5 hash of your current password will work in mysql) and change those settings in admin. Of course if you were to go that far you might as well just change the phpbb security settings in your mysql.

Extremely good comment and actions I often take myself when hacking into locked forums. I think we need to consider a KB on this sometime.

Adrian,
Do you mean a KB of how to get into admin accounts on your forum with inactive or unknown email addresses? Or a KB of what I just said. If you would like, I would be happy to write it up. Let me know. (I'm not a noob, just don't post much)

Well I mean a comprehensive KB about all the different types of lock out that people get. Sometimes because of to many failed logins, sometimes because of Staff permission changes and sometimes because they were banned from the site through improper use. Please feel free to write as much as you can, if you feel you are struggling I can pitch in too
