Installing over existing BB?

I have been wanting to install IM 1.40 over an existing phpbb2 site i own for some time now, and finally got fed up with trying to figure it out myself.
I am mainly just interested in making sure the categoies, forums, topics, posts, and users are intact...the forum is only modded to include member ranks in the member list and thats it. Undoing this would take me a total of 30 seconds.
..so is there a method to install IM140 over an existing phpbb?
If not, I promise I wont cry. I will simply run off and ...umm..not cry.
However, is there a manner of backing up the original data via backup and dropping it on a new install of IM?
Thanks!
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

backup your db and save it locally in case of trouble. Upload IM140 and set all your chmods.
copy your old config.cfg to your new IM installation.
deleat the install directory.
deleat the prill_install directory
download
IntegraMOD132d
upload to forum root/
Integramod132d/update/db_update_20x_to_132c.php
Integramod132d/update/db_update_132c_to_132d.php
In your browser, go to
http://www.yoursite.com/db_update_20x_to_132c.phpthen go to
http://www.yoursite.com/db_update_132c_to_132d.phpdownload

update IntergraMOD ver.132d to ver.140
upload to forum root/
db_update.php
db_update2.php
db_update3.php
In your browser, go to
http://www.yoursite.com/db_update.phpit should take you through all three update files.
Download
phpbb_2017_to_2019_integramod_140
use the premod files and follow the provided instructions
Download

Integramod_2.0.19-2.0.20.zip
and again, use the premod files and follow the provided instructions.
Download
phpbb_security_102_to_103_im140
and again, use the premod files and follow the provided instructions.
now youll be fully updated.
I know this is alot of steps, but the next version will hopefully be much more streamlined
ps... this should install prillian. if it does not, you will get errors, but do not worry. To install prillian, upload the Prill_install folder from IM140.
In your browser, go to
http://www.yoursite.com/prill_install/im_install.phpopen forum root/config.cfg
find
- Code: Select all
define('PHPBB_INSTALLED', true);
after, add
- Code: Select all
define('PRILLIAN_INSTALLED', true);

Ok so I'm a total noob to this and so that would explain why i don't know what i'm doing here. So I just have a couple questions:
If I follow the above instructions this will install integramod and keep my old user list from phpbb2 board I have in tack? Also will it keep the forum structure and posts as well?
When you say root you mean the folder I create to upload IM too correct?
It doesn't seem here that I run the install file from IM140 is this correct I simply upload the file then delete it?
I copy the old config.cfg from my phpbb2 root directory to this new root directory?
Ok hopefully that is all my questions. LOL i tried to migrate last night and I just backed up the old forums from the phpbb2 and tried to restore database into the integramod one...needless to say it didn't work and I get this message now: phpBB : Critical Error
Could not get theme data for themes_id [7]
So I think I hosed the board and have to start over. That is why I am asking this questions just to make sure this is what I need to do to get it right. Thanks in advance for the guidance.

In all honesty, not to step on your toes Helter, but for me there was more involved in this.
http://integrmod.com/home/viewtopic.php?t=8792This is a link to the old forum that was extremely useful for me.
You can try the route Helter said, but if you end up with errors try it again this way.
Good luck.

Prillian is an Instant Messenger for your website.
A lot of people don't use it, but some do.
And if it doesn't install it, it is easy to go back and install it later.

Looks like your missing files on your site. Make sure you upload all the files to the appropriate directories.

Just what more was involved? In all honesty, I have done dozens of updates like this. In fact i have recently done this for 9 diferent IM2 members. Upgrading them from phpBB or another phpBB premod to IM 140. In the future, if someon offers support and you think you have a better way, please be prepared to support them if they choose your way.

It does look like you are missing some files there.
And I am not abandoning the guy Helter.
I just never got that method you posted to work.
Sorry for the step in. (I did say try your way, and if you have errors then try that link)
Jagang, did you upload as a zip and then uncompress in your file manager, or did you upload individual files and folders?
If you can upload using zips it makes it a little easier. Just be sure not to copy over files that do not need it.
Let me know what you find out man.

Hey all ok so I was able to restore my old files and get the old phpbb boards up again *whoo* So I'm going to try this again but Helter I have a few questions so I can determine where I went wrong because I think it was *gasp* user error on my part. I'm just going to go through them step by step and make sure I understand what you are saying:
1) I should upload IM1.40 the full set of files to a new directory (not the one my forums are currently in)
2) I delete the install files
3) I change all the CHMODS
4) I copy from the old forums directory my config.cfg to the new forum directory
5) I upload he update files to the new forum directory and run them
6) I upload the next set of update files to the new forum and run them.
7) I upload all the premodded files to the new forum directory
<img> Upload the to the new forum directory the php_security that I downloaded.
I think what I did wrong is I did all of the above in my old forums directory and not the new one that IM140 was loaded too. If that is the case this should be rather simple. Or so it appears...anyway if you could let me know if I'[m correct ehre that would be great thanks.

Yeah working in your existing folder causes problems of files being there but with different content and stuff like that.
Just make sure you have your backups and sutff, or don't interupt your old forum at all and use backups to try this with.
That looks good though, but I would wait for Helters opinion.

here is the updated 140. All the file edits are done
now backup your original forum and replace it with these files. Remember to keep your config.cfg so that it will find your db. Now run the update files you previously downloaded, starting with the phpbb to 132c from the 132 download
**NOTE**
if you choose to use the install from this attached 140 to make a fresh install, you must interupt the install after the initial install. When the install tells you to delete your install file to install prillian, you must browse to "www.your forum/install/update_to_latest.php" first. Once complete, delete the install folder and browse to "www.your forum/prill_install/im_install.php" Now your forum will ask you to log in. once logged in, the install will continue. You will now have 140 with all the updates.

sorry i missed this post. Did you upload the complete folder to a new directory and set all the chmods correctly?
If your having trouble, try running the db updates from your original forum. They will only alter your db, which should be backed up and saved in a safe place first.
