[Solved]Restricting styles?

PostAuthor: storm_eagle22 » Tue May 23, 2006 7:50 pm

Is it possible to restrict a certian style to say only one usergroup. I've tried removing the style select menu but users can still choose their style when they register.

ACP -> General Admin -> Configuration

Set the Default Style to the Style you want

Override User Style set to "Yes"

This is a global change that will affect all users. I don't know if you can limit it by user or usergroup.

This might just work to put everyone on one style except for a certain group that can change styles freely.

1. Set everyone to a certain style with Extreme Styles.
2. Set user style to that style within General Admin, Configuration+, Profile Options and Override user choice.
3. Set Style Select block to be viewable to a certain usergroup or user level only.

Works on my board but I guess the downside is you can't control which styles are selectable. That is, they either use the 1 main style or they can choose from any style you have installed... there is no inbetween.

select style block should not work, if over ride user choice is set to yes. There are several mods that will do what you want, but again PCP is the stumbling block. Im sure iether Teelk or MrDSL can figure out the edits to make them work

I don't know how it's supposed to work. I just know it works the way I mentioned. Perhaps I'm only overriding the registration/profile way of changing style?

At http://motleyville.com

I created two users:

username1: nostyle
password: notallowed

username2: yesstyle
password: allowed

If you log in with username1, you don't have the style select at the top of the left column and you don't have the option to change style within your profile.

If you log in with username2, you have the style select at the top of the left column that is functional but you don't have the option to change style within your profile.

Username2 can change styles while Username1 cannot.

Actually as an additional to this, you could remove the use of the style select, and through PCP, make it manageable via admin control. All users have the default style but the Admin can change the user's style when they change their mod status. It is a bit manual but you could have a full control of sorts.
