New White Page Issue.

Hey there,

I'm having an issue with white pages. My site won't load at all. When you try to access any of the pages msgboard/portal.php, /msgboard/forum/index.php, /msgboard/index.php, you get redirected to msgboard/install/install.php and then get a 404 error page about how that file is not found on the server. This board has been up and running like a champ for over 6 months now. Nothing has changed on the server end. I tried doing the fix where you replace includes/def_tree.php and includes/def_themes.php. That didn't fix the problem. Has anyone seen thsi before??

Thanks,
FATGUY

Have you done anything to the database... or changed the config.php...

The other thing to check is via phpmyadmin or whatever your host uses to look at the database.. look at the config tables and make sure the server name and script path are correct..

since it was working fine before, and you have replaced the def_* files, try using ftp and delete all files from /cache except index.html

I am caught up too. Everything was working fine earlier today. Checked back a few minutes ago and all I get are white pages. Changed nothing between the time it was working and now. I tried clearing out the cache like was suggested and still no go?

Any other idea?

Guys please call your hosts and ask them if they have upgraded to PHP5 on their servers. This is a notorious sign of trying to run Integramod 1.4.0 on a PHP5 server.

You guys are saying you're getting white blank pages, correct? The reason I think it may be a PHP5 issue is because if the php files were being read correctly, you guys should be seeing PHPBB error messages. The fact that you're not seeing those is strong indication that PHP5 is being run on your server, so the first thing I would do is call the tech support number of your server to ask if they have upgraded to PHP5.

If you guys want, just post up the 800 number for your hosts tech lines and I will call for you...I know some people don't like calling tech support.

Fatguymest: I am near clueless on your problem. Yours would sound like a php5 problem except for the fact that you are being redirected to your install folder. I would still call your host's tech support line to ask them if they have made any changes to their servers that might have affected your PHPBB message board.

I know my host made some changes on me in the last week that caused me some difficulty.

Awesome Coolazzrob! Yeah sometimes hosts will make minor updates to their servers that can cause some incompatibility problems with individual programs that run on the server. Usually if you have a good host they will fix the problem as they do not want their servers to be incompatible with any forms of software, especially one as big as PHPBB.

But if you didn't change anything to cause this, I would guess it is your host's fault. We'll see what they come up with.

None of my .php pages work. They were working yesterday around 4pm est and I made NO changes to ANY of them. They are now NOT working at all.

When attempting to access them all I get is a blank white page.

Here is a link so that you can see for yourself.

Did you change to php5 or make some other type change yesterday that could be affecting my pages?

Ticket re-opened

as I said in my original ticket NOTHING WAS CHANGED BETWEEN THE TIME IT WAS WORKING AND THE TIME I DISCOVERED IT WAS NOT WORKING. IT IS NOT ONLY THE PAGE I GAVE YOU A LINK TO. NONE OF THE PAGES ARE WORKING.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT YOU SEE MIGHT BE IN MY PORTAL.PHP.

DID YOU CHECK MY INDEX.PHP PAGE BECAUSE IT IS NOT WORKING EITHER?

This sounds like another load of BS to me. You don't happen to be using Ipowerweb do you? Because this sounds like the junk I get from them almost every time I put in a ticket to them.

Hosts are lazy...they probably reconfigured their server and since your site was one of the only sites on the server that is affected by the reconfiguration (most hosts put 300+ domains on one server) they just want to blame the problem on you since they are too lazy to put in the work to fix it.

If worse comes to worse, you might want to consider opening up a new hosting account with another company (NOT Ipower...nevernevernever) and loading your site up there to see if it works. If it does, tell your old host "hey check this out... loaded the site on this new server and it works just fine. Thus proving it is your issue and you just lost a customer over it." And cancel your hosting. If it doesn't work then usually you can just call the new hosting company and cancel and they will refund your money since it didn't work out for you.

But the bottom line is if you didn't change anything yourself, it is basically not possible for this to be a problem on your end. Hacking is possible...but not likely in this situation. Sometimes the smallest configuration changes made by your host can bring the forums down and they're probably just too lazy to help you.

What host are you using?

Zac

Rob did you try replacing your includes/def_tree.php?

I know you said you tried clearing your cache, but did you try the other part first?

This actually happens to me every couple of days. I have to reupload my includes/def files and then I am good to go. It is a huge pain. My server is globat & runs php 4.3.6.
any ideas on how to make it quit ?

Yeah.. dont use the def files. Try this. I did it when I was having white page issues with my def_tree and my board has been fine ever since.

If you can't get this to work check out this host. I just moved to them about a month or so ago and have had pretty good success with them. Their located in NJ and I have tested the connection from both Virginia and New York, both are very low pings. A little more expensive, but at least they'll keep your site up. http://www.fluidhosting.com/ Otherwise you can take a look at a look through these forums http://www.webhostingtalk.com

Mods/Admin please delete this if it is not acceptable. I am just trying to be helpful with information.

Note: You could also just try out some web host's 30 day trial to see if you can get this site up from a back up. ie back up all of your files and pop it on another server.
