Error with upgrade/conversion and portal too slow

If i try to automatically upgrade a vanilla install of phpBB2 to integramod i get the following error:

Migrating Personal Albums

Fatal error: Call to undefined function session_pagestart() in /xxxxx/includes/functions.php on line 1714

So i tried to install integraMOD, then manually converting my forum by importing users, posts and topic tables, but just after importing users (i have 6000+) the portal becomes very very slow (10-15 secs to load a page, 50-60 query as usual).
I really can't get how to make it work, i tried almost everything...
