Smiling Mod

PostAuthor: Eon » Thu Apr 06, 2006 2:04 pm

In the other site somewhere, I remember seeing somehting about the smiling mod and that it was better than smiley categories.

Is this so, and if so how can I get it for IM 140?

There are two mods that allow different smilies for different themes. There is one mod that manages smilies... Which one is of interest?

One that manages smilies. Like if you a 1000 smilies, and could upload them all and change them and put them into groups and stuff.

Something like that would really slow down your forum plus increase the memory usage.

Using less than 50 smiles keeps things much more manageable and host friendly.

here is the smilie mod that i used. there was a bit of coding issues with it, and after Teelk went through everything and got all the coding right for me, i had no problems with it at all.

it allows you to create and manage different categories, and even hide certain smilies from the members (like christmas smilies for seasonal use)

i have found this to be very useful on my forum.

Right. This one I know ab out I used in my other site. I just saw someone mention the smiliing mod on IM 1 and they said it was better. How ever know one knows what I am talking about so I am sticking to smiley categories.

well, i spoke too soon as far as problems, and i still don't know if this is a problem, but when you installed new smilies, did you ever have a problem with them not showing in post right away Eon? like they will show in previews, but not in the actual post right away?

seems like when i first installed this mod, it did that, and before i could get back to check things out, they began showing.

one of my admins installed some smilies this morning, and when you post, then look at the preview of your post, you see the smilie, but when you click submit, you see the code typed out.

but to answer your question about the other smilie mod, is this it?

Yeah I had that problem too. LOL I thought I had messed something up and installed the smilies again... Talking about a mess. It has to be something to do with the cash though.

Its not really a problem more a feature....since the cache is designed to do just that; store pages and load them rather than recompiling. Your browser cache can also do this hence using ctrl+f5 when refreshing page after making changes.
