Another little thought I had... but here I have no clue on how or where to start looking for the possibilities of this to work.

Is there a way to have sort of an "IF" - "THEN" function for it?!

For example:
A user gets added to a specific group that enables the user gaining access to some forums with permissions set to "private". (or whatever the specific reasons for the private-group)

A bunch of other forums could be said different types of "private" permissions and may requier (depending on the use) that same user to be added to another different group.

Perhaps this "other different group" could have set an option, that IF somebody is/becomes a member of group-x, auto append to this grourp?!


It would enable the admins to predifine groups and (private-)permissions on forums and have users automatically gain the correct access level to them depending on just the main group their in.


This could be particular handy in automating Trial sub.scriptions etc.


You may also wanna call it SUBgroup or something, but I like AutoAppend better <img>

It would basically only have the additional pop-down/select-box to pick either NONE or and EXISTING group and will automattically append the members of that group to it's own... but NOT ADD! It should just append them, so that when a user is removed from a group, he also automattically leaves that "AutoJoinIF" group.
Of course there probably BUTs on it as well... like NOT permitting APPENDING a specific group if the group-type isn't compatible with the function, but I don't see why it shouldn't be functional on any of the group-types we have atm.


Anyhow... don't know if I explained it right or gave any good arguments why I think this might be handy for a lot of people... but would be nice if somebody could have a think about this one.

I think I know what you're talking about.

Like I have groups that are gender based... and I'd like them to get added to the appropriate group once they started to post.... so, for example, once charlie posts 5 posts, autoadd him to the male group.

Is that what you mean?

That would be one possibility... yes, but my main intention is auto adding people to "Trial/Trial-Sub.scription" groups and automatically (being members of it) gain the same access as VIPs. So the group for VIPs has other permissions on the forums and can do/see more... now I don't want to have to add the trials manually, but would like to have the option in my Trial-groups option, to "AutoAppend users to group: VIP-SUBSCRIBERS"
or having the choice on having it the other way arround... so to make it possible to "AutoAppend FROM" and also the option to "AutoAppend TO"

Or something like that!

This will make it easier to grant users a short trial by hitting a post count for example without having to add the users to a different group.


Still don't know if I explained it right, but I hope somebody does and understands the procress of automation it makes possible, if the group-structure is tuned well.
