News block does not appear, i have went through options but still it does not show content typed into this

I have just installed IMPortal and all seems well but the news block does not appear. i have typed content into this but it does not show. i thought maybe it was not active but it still doesnt show.

This is the view that i am getting - everything appears to be active

Can someone advise me what is wrong.

you cannot add text to the news block from the acp

first go to acp/IM Portal/Portal Configuration

scroll down to "News Forum ID(s)"

add the id's separated by a comma of the forums you want to pull news from.

example... if you want to pull news from your forum "Music Chat", click on the forum and you will see the forum id in the address bar on your browser (http://www.alterchatter.com/viewforum.php?f=11)
11 id your forum id. add this to acp/IM Portal/Portal Configuration/ like this

News Forum ID(s) 11

if you want to add the forum "Music Videos" the proper syntax is

News Forum ID(s) 11, 81

now go to acp/IM Portal/Blocks Management

choose the portal page your using to display portal.php.
scroll to the bottom and choose "add blocks"

Block Title: News
Block Position: center
Active?: yes
Type: HTML
Cache?: No
Block File: news
View By: all
Show Border: Yes
Show Titlebar: Yes
Localize Titlebar: Yes -if yes, it will use the lang file and the title will be "News" regardless of the title you choose
Show BG: Yes


now when you make a post as admin or mod, you can set the post as news in posting.php
