All non admin accounts suddenly banned [solved]

Manually unbanning those who were banned

EDITED: Just solved this. I went into the database manually and saw a suspicious line that banned ban_userid with -1. Any idea how this would have happened?

Crackertracker seems to be banning spammers even when their user_id is -1, which means it's banning all guests. This is obviously a bad thing, and a patch will be available soon to rectify the situation. For now turn off spammer protection.

Go to your database via phpmyadmin. Browse the ban_list table. Delete the entry with user_id -1. You'll now have access. Go to ACP>CrackerTracker>Settings and turn off spammer protection for now.

This just happened to me too. Was a bit suprised at getting banned. But your fix worked. You guys are the best <img>

I paniced and dissabled all ctracker stuff. could someone please recommend what to be turned bcak on. thanks

Hi people, is this patch out there somewhere? Not trying to rush anyone, but it is annoying when it happens. The temp fix will do for now, but long term.....

I'm also looking for a patch for this issue. Recently there has been a rash of attacks on my website, a couple a day and now my users are getting banned. These are people I know, so they aren't the attackers.

Well I now have the same problem. Except all accounts are banned including admin accounts. I can not access my site at all via the net. Only through ftp. I tried above fix and there is nothing in the banlist table with a -1. Any ideas please??+


edit: never mind I made a stupid last night and was looking at the tables for my backup forum not my live forum. Above fix solved my problem.

i tried to unban a user who is staff, manually as directed in this thread.. but in myphpadmin, phpbb_banlist, ..anyways i anew to phpbb and my question is how can i unban that account, without delecting it and have her make another?

as staff, is she a moderator, or admin? if so, be sure you have allowed the correct amount of mods and admins in acp/.: Security :./special/

solved it.. thanx HelterSkelter! i seen that i have exceeded my allowed number of moderators/admins so i adjusted it and she was unbanned..
