I have updated fisubice to use separate images for the diferent color scheme's. As most are probably aware, Okki was instrumental in the release of IM 140. Without his work it may never have made it to release, so kuddo's to you Okki! You may not be aware that the diferent color scheme's (fisub_blue, fisub_orange and fisub_grey) were made by him. I think it was a great idea to include choices, and to show what could be done with a single, simple template. The only drawback that I found was that the way it was written, you were limited to a single set of images. I have not talked to okki about this, but it was probably step 1 toward Adrians idea of having transparent images, so that template color changes could be contained completely in the .css files. What I have done is to incorporate color files inside the images directory (ie... templates/fisubice/images/blue) I re wrote fisubice.cfg and theme_info.cfg to reflect these changes. What this has allowed me to do is add a complete new color scheme in about 20 minutes (I have added fisubiceGreen and fisubiceBlack) Every color scheme is based on the original fisubice.css and uses only color modified fisubice images. Since there are no changes to the original fisubice template, any hacks or mods that you have added, will not be affected, providing you follow the updating instructions I will post here.

Though it includes all the language images, only the lang_english images have been colorized so far.

to install, please follow these simple instruction to the letter <img>
First, go to ACP/eXtreme Styles and uninstall ONLY "fisub_orange", fisub_grey" and "fisub_blue" NOT "fisubice"

"fisub_orange", fisub_grey" and "fisub_blue" are not installed by default, so if you did not install them, you do not have to un-install them

upload
fisubice.cfg
theme_info.cfg
fisubice_black.css
fisubice_blue.css
fisubice_green.css
fisubice_orange.css
fisubice_grey.css
to your forum root/templates/fisubice overwriting the files that are there.

upload the color folders from fisubice/images (orange, blue, green, grey and black, to your forum root/templates/fisubice/images

go to ACP/eXtreme Styles/install templates and install them


*NOTE* by default, fisubice uses the banner "phpbb2_logo.gif" located in "forum root/images/logo
This banner is color matched to the default fisubice theme. This makes the left part of the header blue. The best way to retain the look and size of the header is to make your banner the same height as the default. I have done this on the demo site by adding transparencies to the top and bottom of the banner. (if you dont, the header will only be s tall as the tallest image and will not "frame" around it. If you want to use the banner from the demo site, or even edit it to your liking, i have uploaded it [url=http]HERE[/url]
Upload it to forum root/images/logo then go to ACP/general admin/configuration and choose it.


Here is a walk-through of making a new fisubice color, or theme, using this version of fisubice. Since a pink template has been requested, I will use pink for this example. You can use this to make any color, or style though.

i have asked this before, and never got an answer that i saw, but i am curious as to what would happen, if after cloning fisubice, and making the clone the default theme, what would happen if you uninstalled fisubice. i am not asking about deleting the files, just uninstalling.

If you uninstall the original fisubice you should be fine as long as you have everyone on the clone and it is default.

are you sure it is only your pips that are not changing?
If so, be sure every color folder has a pip and that your fisubice.cfg has this line in it

Just an opinion.
The black style text quote box is very hard to read and the view post, select, and expand links are also very hard to read in the dark style, I know its possible for the .css to be edited and changed to suit each boards needs but would it not be easier and possible cause less problems later on if the .css file in the stock was editied and made easier to read then users might not have to alter it to suit their own needs and make it more viewable, this could possible not cause further issues down the line when updates are needed, that way users can just re-download a stock file and upload it.

I hope I explained myself well enough.....lol

Sorry for the delay.

Helter-I checked everything. All my color folders contain the correct pips and the line you mention above:

Is listed correctly. I am using Firefox as a browser on two different systems. Sometimes the pips change and sometimes they do not. Feel free to give 'er a try.

check in acp/general admin/qbar/boad navigation , that the Display icon, is set to "nav_menu" with no path included. Also, try deleting you template cache through acp/eXtreme styles/styles management/manage cache
and last but not least go to acp/IM Portal/Delete cache files. If that doesnt fix it, it is possesed and should be shot immediatley

I did everything. Still no hope. The first theme I choose sets up correctly. Everything is in order. Subsequent theme changes does nothing to the pips. they stay the same no matter what. Bummer.

I've got another question. When changing the style the banner (top left) of a side is the same in every template. but mostly this is adapted to the default style installed at the beginning. Is there a possibility to also allocate a special banner to a style?

i believe /cache should be 777 correct? Ok, that's good. /includes/def_* should be 666 which is read/write. def_qbar was not 666 so changed it. Deleted the cache from ACP->IM Portal and Extreme Styles. Refreshed. Result: Subice theme, subice pips. Change to Subice green, pips remain subice. Change theme to anything, pips remain subice.

Angelus, you can go to the overall header of the template you want to change the banner of and find

I checked my .cfg files you mention. Funny, I only have 4, blue, grey, orange, and fsubice. Each one has the following line:

Besides the missing colors, I am not sure I see anything wrong. I will check the file download again to see if I missed something.

ahh. it is incomplete! <img> rename your current fisubice and try reuploading the updated fisubice, or at least upload

I did the following:
downloaded the FIsubice zip from the downloads section.
renamed my original fsubice directory to fsubice_orig on remote server.
unzipped fsubice locally
uploaded unzipped file of FIsubice to remote server

All files mentioned should be present and unaltered.

Went to ACP->ExtremeStyles and cleared cache
Went to ACP->IM Portal->Delete cache files

went back to site, now in FIsubice default theme. All looks ok.
Changed to FIsubiceBlack.......pips stayed blue
Changed to FIsubiceGreen......pips stayed blue
Changed to FIsubiceGrey.......pips stayed blue
Closed browser (firefox) and relaunched....theme stayed FIsubiceGrey with blue pips.
Changed from FIsubiceGrey to Green and pips stayed blue.

I confirmed I have the different color folders and correct pip colors. I also have one .cfg file and multiple .css files. One for each color.

just for kick, go to ACP/IM Portal/delete cache files

A personal thought, When looking through the forum post listing viewforum.php?f=1 the link to the first post in a thread, is linked in the backgrounds of the whole row pertaining to that thread. If you want to click on the last post in a thread, it is quite dificult to without catching the first link.

I feel the first cell containing the topic title should be linked to the first post. making navigation a little easier. But a great improvement overall.

your IMPortal cache was misbehaving. I disabled the cache funtion in in ACP/IM Portal/Portal config untill I can investigate why. I set your cache setting the same as here, and still had the problem. Once I disabled the cache, the pips work great.

H, the IM Portal Cache has other issues with php 5 and the later versions of php4, remember the minical problem? It was fixed by disabling the calendar cache in IM Portal...
Must be the same problem...

I doubt it, but it might. You can enable it and check your page gen time against the gen time with cache off to see

Can anyone help? If I copy the original fusubice.cfg file back in, the original fusubice works, but I cant install the other colors, even though I uninstalled them. HELP!!!

Also, when I go back to install styles, the old colors are not there. Should this be right?

I didnt see anything different between the code, but I went ahead and put that new code in both files and uploaded them back to the forum. When I go to the ACP and xtreme styles, and go to install, it says there is nothing to install.

install another theme and make it the default. Uninstall fisubice and any vaiations of fisubice. Now check so see what theme installation options you have

Thanks. That worked great. One other thing that is weird is I am trying to install Integrastyle, and it won't show up as installable. Is there any reason for that? Its a 140 board. Thanks.

i think integrastyle had the issue of a folder inside a folder. check that your version looks like this

root/templates/integrastyle/ all the files

and not

root/templates/integrastyle/integrastyle/ all the files

if it looks like the later, copy/move all the files to the first integrastyle folder

also, be sure you have the 140 version as it was released for 132, 140 and 141

It wasn't doubled up, but I moved it out of the templates folder, and then back in, and it recognized it. Anyway, thanks for all the help!
