How many of you have ever banned your own IP from your server because of your ftp client?

I did this again last night on both my normal connection and someone else's. After I banned mine, I just disconnected from my wireless connection and connected to someone else's that lives close to me. Banned both of them.

I use IpSwitch WS_FTP Pro 2007

This happens when I try uploading or downloading a theme, or any small files like image folders because they download/upload so fast.

So last night I tried uploading all the 140 themes to my new 140 demo site so I could compare as I updated them. In the middle of that I banned my own IP. So I switched to the other connection and tried downloading my efusion theme to move it to a normal IM 141 installation to get ready to pack it up and bring it here. Banned that IP as well.

So now I'm down to either using a proxy or a site like proxydevil to even get to my site. The only problem with this is that it's slow and inconvenient.

This has happened before a lot so my host just put my ip in a safe list, but now that I've moved and have the new (6 meg) connection my ip has changed. So I went to ask him to unban it like before but he hasn't been online for a few days.

So...

What is the Best FTP program out there. I don't care about the cost or any of that. I want the best one for web design and uploading/downloading alot of files like Integramod has. With my connection speed it does it really fast so I need one that's not going to ban me.

Also does anyone know how to change your ip if you have cable internet?

I have:

Laptop
Modem - Motorola Surfboard Modem rented from ISP
Router - Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router ( WRT54G )
System - Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2 HP AMD Turion 64 x 2 3.61 GHz 1.93 GB of RAM

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm using the free SmartFTP, but if anyone has a better FTP, I'd change too.

I am using Filezilla for years and never had a similar problem with it.

Because opensource does matters <img>

I use FlashFXP http://www.inicom.net/pages/en.ffxp-home.php very easy to use you get a total of 60 days to try it out for free (after 30 days you have to wait 30 secs before you can use) but it only costs $23 - $35 to buy <img>

lol that's the catch for me

Not that I care about $35 but I'm not a big fan of paying money for ripped, copied, and modified source of free ftp clients, or any program for that matter <img>

I just got my ip unbanned and put in the safe list so now I'm all good again lol

(ps. flashfxp does the same as ws_ftp and uploads the small images so fast it banned me too in the past)

But other than that I liked it, I guess once you get used to an old prob, it's hard to addapt

I use Flash FX as well but find it bloody aweful for editing online PHP file as on most occasions once it downloads for edit the file copy locally is double spaced.

Yea, that's why I use Notepad+ and HTML Kit to do php files, then reupload them

I own a copy of Flashfxp, but at work i use Filezilla, I have to say Filezilla is 98% like Flashfxp but free.

I would whole heartedly recommend it.

link it to a copy of Scite for opening and editing features both from source forge.
don't think you could have a better setup for this type of server task's.

I use the free version of FTP Commander. It's basic but it works.
