Hi everyone,

For some reason, suddendly I'm getting this error message when trying to attach and attachment in a forum post in my board.

"Tried to upload empty file"

Wondered if anyone has a solution to this?
I've checked and my dedicated server's max file upload size and stuff is all set to 256MB. I've even tried upload just a very small .txt file instead but with the same error.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,

this may be related to the htaccess file I had you upload to your 777 folders. try uploading a blank .htaccess file to your root/files folder

Thanks HelterSkelter,

I tried removing the .htaccess files but still no difference, still getting the same problem.

It's strange it's only happened from the first of this month.
Do you or anyone else have any ideas on what else I could try? I've tried resetting all the folder permissions as per instructions too but still same problem....

could be a cookie or domain error. Try uploading using http:// your site and http://www.yoursite

Thanks.
I've tried clearing out my cookies as well.

I've got the following in my .htaccess file:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.mympxplayer.org [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) http://mympxplayer.org/$1 [L,R=301]

All that does is changes all my addresses to http://mympxplayer.org instead of http://www.mympxplayer.org so it's shorter that's all. Do you think I should remove it?

Yeh, tried that and it still doesn't show up.

I did notice something though.
If I create a new upload but instead specify the "File URL" option instead of browsing my computer to upload the file, it WORKS!

So the problem seems to be when I try to upload into pafiledb it doesn't work, but if I specify a URL, it works fine instead. This might explain also why the Attachment Mod is also not working.

Do you think it's a problem with the server configuration or something? I'm running it on a dedicated server.

I also checked and here are the folder permissions:
- /pafiledb/uploads has 777
- /pafiledb/cache has 777

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Binh

check your php.ini for max upload file size. Most installations default at 4 megs

Max upload size is not the issue because a few weeks ago a member uploaded a 15MB file to the site fine.

Also, the files I'm test uploading are only 10K .txt files and a jpg file which is only 50K's so it's not that.

if you or your host have updated php then your .ini file was probably reset. It is also possible that .jpg is not an allowed file type. Try running cookie mod from the dl section then upload a small .zip file

Do you mean I should check the php.ini file? I'll get them to send me a copy and make the comparison.

It can't also be the jpg restriction either because I've tried .txt as well as .zip and .rar and neither of them can be uploaded.

When you say "Try running cookie mod from the dl section then upload a small .zip file" - do you mean try uploading a file from the Admin CP under "Download" section? I've tried that also and that doesn't work. It says it's 'successful' but the file doesn't come up.

I mean, try this mod
http://www.integramod.com/forum/downloa ... l&df_id=77
It will ensure that your cookie settings are incorrect. That is the only thing left that could explain this behavior, other than incorrect domain settings on your server.

Thanks.
Tried that.
Accepted all the settings because they looked correct. Cleared cache, cookies but still same problem <img>.

I just go a copy of my php.ini on my server and here is it. What do you think?

I copied your file and saved it. I will look to for a possible cause in the morning. I deleted it from your post for the security of your server

when you go to acp/attachments/Control Panel
do you see statistics? If not checkthat your ftp password is entered correctly in acp/attachments/Manage
