Upgrade question re: includes/def_* and profilcp/def files

Nothing, I'm just testing the upgrade to 1.4.1 and have questions.

Just went through the upgrade to 1.4.1 on my test machine and with the exception of some album issues (apparently related to having an album block) things appear mostly good. But have some questions regarding the PCP def files.

1. Can the includes/def_* files from the existing board be used? If not what is the potential harm? I copied my original includes/def_* to get my forums back (have read suggestions to sync instead but not sure how) and the default style back to fisubice.

2. I had made many modifications via the PCP, to the profile and registration page look which are now gone. Any suggestions on how to modify existing profilecp/def/* files with required updates for 1.4.1? Re-doing all my changes is going to be time consuming. I did try just using the my existing profile/def/* files but notice the registration page wasn't quite right (missing the challenge graphic) and am not sure if other issues might occur.
