One of our admins deleted al but the msn bots from our forum.
Is there a way to re-do them? Upload a file, manually input them from a list, or should I bother with it?
Not sure how important they are.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with it.
As those bots start coming back to your site, you'll start to see them in the "pending bots" area and if you make sure to check this everyday, it won't be a hassle to get them all added again.

They were deleted probably about 3 weeks ago and I have checked for pending bots but nothing ever shows. I will keep an eye out for them tho.
Thx

Actually, I obviously wasn't paying enough attention when I first looked at your post. You will need to add those bots back if you want them to be recognized, but for most people this modification is not very useful.
Here is the information for you to use to add those bots back:
Bot Name: Googlebot
Agent Match: Googlebot|Mediapartners-Google/2.1
Bot Name: Alexa
Agent Match: ia_archiver|X! à¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¡ÃƒÆ’ƒÂ ¸! ¡n|ÂÂ

Did you ever do anything with the bots mod before getting this error?
Or did it just pop up?

I don't recall changing anything other than the zip file with the updated files in this forum that I uploaded, but don't recall anything about bots in there.
I had same problem with IM Portal>Page Management. I got the exact same error. Like page not found or diplayed.
I fixed the Page Management problem by completely uploading everything in the admin folder and that cured it.
Any suggestions on what files/folders I could upload to see if it fixes it?

I tried instaling firefox and tried it again. I was able to add 3 pending bots and now I get this message:

The requested URL /forum/admin/admin_bots.php&id=17&pending=16&data=ip&action=add_pending was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

If I try using Ignore, I get this message:

Don't understand why it worked 3 times and now it won't work. Same as explorer, it work at first 1 time and then I get the message shown higher in the post.

Yea, I have the same problem but I did try messing with the bots to make them show up on who's online. I just tried updating the mod but it isn't compatible.
So, what we would need to do is find the original mod, the same one used in the package, and check each edit to make sure the correct code is there
Also would need to re-upload the included files in the mod as one or more may be corrupt
I'll look more into this tonight

What do you mean you uploaded the includes folder?
What includes folder did you upload?

I think Quack means that the original includes folder from the IM setup package was re-uploaded. <img>

I got our forum back - just had to resync.
Still haven't figured out the adding pending bots error 404.
I read somewhere else about possibly a host server firewall causing this?
Does that sound right? Because this function wotked several times and then the error started.

Ok I checked with my host server provider (jatol.com) and they said the following about their firewall:
We are running mod_security and due to that all folders must be 755 and files 644 (anything else may not work). Most generally if you are hitting the mod_security block you will get a 403 not a 404. I'd check file and folder permissions to make sure they are 755 and 644 (respectively).
Logan
They also mentioned not to change files and folders to 777 and 666:
Folders should be 755 and files should be 644.
Typically there is never a reason to change them. But at times files can be raised to 755 but that is all, if you use 777 on any folder or file ( files in the folder or the file it self ) will not be able to be run from the server.
There should never be a reason for 777 permission, and 755 should always work.
( I have yet to see a php .script that will not work properly with folders set to 755 and files to 644 ... or files to 755, though that should not be needed )
Now do watch that you are not getting 403/forbidden errors, as that is something totally different. If you are getting that, follow this:
https://www.jatol.com/KB/index.php?cat=6&item=121Faldran
They couldn't explain the Error 404.
So I still have no solution to why I can't add the pending bots. LOL

Just an addition to the above posts.
I installed netscape, and was able to add 4 pending bots. Then I got this message:
Not Found
The requested URL /forum/admin/admin_bots.php&id=17&pending=1&data=ip&action=add_pending was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Why is it that explorer, firefox, and now netscape all worked the first couple times adding bots and now all of them give me this error? Can you somehow get blocked for repeatative actions?

I don't know, it's the same with me, if I clear cache folder, and browser cache from firefox I am able to add all bots, but next time I get the error again.
I was messing with this before and I uploaded a backup common.php file and it worked just fine all the time, but gave me errors elsewhere so I had to reupload my other common.php
I will look at both and find the difference and get back with this topic, bump tomorrow if I haven't replied

Thought I would give you an update. My host told me to look at my Cpanel error logs and find the errors in a little more detail there. Thought I would post them for you guys to checkout.
I'm gettiing 2 errors each time.

Hope this gives you a little more help.
Question: Could a bot get banned and traces of it be removed therefore unable to find the info and then giving the error?
Also I checked my database, and found the pending_bots. I don't know exactly how to show you the page, or even if it would help you.
