De.scription and Message

I just noticed that usually I use GMT-5 on most sites, but on 141, I had to use GMT-6 to get correct time.
Now I have to use GMT-5.

I am guessing the files need to be altered for the daylight savings now coming 3 weeks earlier for USA and Canada?

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that the forums timebase depends entirely on where the web server where they are installed are/is, then the times fan out from there.

Like if the server is in London and your in New York (my apologies if I'm well out with this btw) the time would be -5 GMT

(My apologies if i went slightly off topic!)

I beleive you are correct geoff1.

I run a "local" board with mostly locals on it, so I make sure to keep the time up to date.

However, if you run a forum where people from all over the world are on it, it truly does not matter what you show for a time because each user will have to go to their profile anyways and adjust the time to match their time zone.

Ok - I just noticed on this forum, that I had to correct my profile because my posts were dating off one hour. I did this last month. Now today, I noticed it off one hour again and had to change it again. I just assumed the daylight svings causing this differnce.

That's hard to tell. Since it depends on what time your server is set on. Some people deemed the early time change important enough to change it in their computers and some people didn't.

ok. you have to find out what time zone your server is in (and don't count daylight savings) then you set that as the base time in the ACP, then the user has to go into their profile, in international settings, set their time zone and turn on daylight savings time, if their area recognizes that.

I just did it on my site and it's working perfectly... i was 2 hours off before because i set the admin time to MY area gmt instead of the server's.
