installation probs

PostAuthor: Floydwall888 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 8:48 am

Alright, here goes.

I followed all the steps correctly(to my knowledge) to install the mod but when I attempt to go to the install page wich would be http://www.mydomain.com/forum/install/install.php nothing is there. I have no idea what to do at this point. I have unloaded and uploaded the entire folder twice now, and will not do it again, it takes to long to not have it work ya know? You guys have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Well i saw when searching in a post that you should have your trasfer type, set to "auto". I did not know this. Hopefully this is the fix becuase guess what, i'm going to delete it all and upload it again. If it doesn't work this time...i'm coming after somebody lol

Let me know if you guys can think of anything else it might be

Check that all the directories are CHMOD'd properly (as per instructions) I know I've had problems with things not working, then changing the CHMOD makes them work! :)

(And im sure that the experts will probably come up with some idea's too! <img> )

I apprceiate the idea, didn't work to good though, still not showing up after a clean reload and going in there and making all those CHMOD adjustments. I am getting close to giving up, I have followed all the documentation to a T and searched for all kinds of issues. If anyone can help, pu-lease let me know. I'm not sure what could be going on.

Thanks

Quick question though,

When I am updating the CHMOD's . I just do the exact folder or file it says right, not the parent?

For instance;

cgi-bin/tmp/

I would just modifty /tmp, correct? Not the CGI folder also.

if you make a simple html page and save it as index.html (or .htm) does it show? If not do you have the right permissions on the forum folder?

Is this your own server or is it at an ISP? If it's your own does it really support PHP?

Just a few ideas I can think of.

And for your question I think it's enough just take the subfolder since if you check at the list there are a few directories which both the main and the subfolder is in the list. i.e.

CHMOD Setting Directory or file name
777 album_mod/upload
777 album_mod/upload/cache
777 album_mod/upload/med_cache

Cheers,
Zappa

Thanks for the advice Zappa. It all checks out man. I just scrachted the idea. There was nothing at all I could find wrong. So I went ahead and used ezpotal and I will do my own modding I guess.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Are you sure you are using the correct URL?
Are you using a FORUM folder or PHPBB2 folder in your URL?

The easiest way to install a fresh forum I found is to upload the zip file and de-compress it on the server.
