What was done to try to solve the problem?

How do I disable the PM that tells me my database has been backed up and etc. I get this PM every day and I'm tired of having to see it or maybe even so it doesnt do it as much.
Also how do I fix the unread count? I moved the database from a previous version and its telling me i have a bunch of unread messages
