Hi,

Is it ok to upgrade from 1.4.0 (phpBB 2.0.19) or should i upgrade my board first to 2.0.22 ?

You can directly upgrade from your 2.0.19 version. This upgrade will, indeed, replace the files on your server, just keeping the database and upgrading it to the latest 2.0.22 version.

Keep in mind that all mods you have made will disappear, so you will need to reinstall them.

Following my personnal experience, I would suggest to make a copy of your site in another folder with a copy of the database, and try to upgrade first that copy. You will then be able to see how smoothly things are going...
