Removing the sub.scription and donations system has made my forums load faster than ever before (never seen them so fast before!) I had a massive page that usually takes about 0.8 seconds to load load in 0.03!!!!! Tell me thats not fast!!!!

Now that is weird, as I can't see how removing these Mods can speed up for forum as IIRC they are mostly only in use when the user selects them?

It is odd I agree, but it certainly made a big change. I think (ok this is mad but its only a theory!) that it may have been something to do with removing the code from the files and making less files load up with the pages, and removing quite a few tables from the database too (not just donations and sub's, but chatspot, kb etc.)

Nevertheless, it worked 8-)

Yeah but removing tables I can't see making any difference at all...

Believe me, it wasn't the host, or the visitors (as I did this just prior to the busy period which usually slows everything down, didn't this time or since.) I'm no expert, just saying what I see... as for the software side of things... pass.

Weird, but as we use those aspects of the system they'll have to stay ;(

Thats the only major problem with suggesting moving them... some folks do use them! Ahh well, never mind, its nice to know though that there is a way ;)

If you go to the links that found it... found <img> you'll need to register to download the install files, but just do everything in the install file in reverse (instead of copy over, delete; instead of insert code, delete or comment it out)

ALSO back everything up FIRST!

REMEMBER, if you use paypal this may affect that function.... seek advice from the experts FIRST

FROM the phpbb_config table, delete these rows

dislay_x_donors
donate_start_time
donate_end_time
donate_cur_goal
donate_de.scription
donate_to_points
paypal_p_acct
paypal_b_acct
paypal_currency_code
donate_to_posts
list_top_donors
donate_to_grp_one
to_grp_one_amount
donate_to_grp_two
to_grp_two_amount
donor_rank_id

and delete the phpbb_account_hist
