Help - I could cry!

PostAuthor: monkey » Tue May 08, 2007 3:31 pm

Your phpBB Version: 2.0.
phpBB Type: Integramod 141
MODs: No
Your knowledge: Beginner
Board URL: http://www.twitchythumbs.co.uk

PHP Version: latest
MySQL Version: 4 I think

What was done before the problem appeared?
No idea, the site just loaded a blank page.

What was done to try to solve the problem?

I've *tried* re-upgrading phpbb (it is the latest version) and also tried restoring a backup of the integra directory (note, by restoring, I literally just mean overwriting the files, that is it, no changes the the sql db, just overwriting the files)

De.scription and Message

Help - I could cry!

I've no idea wtf I've done or how to fix it!

I took over a site recently that had phpbb and integramod (plus loads and loads of mods, it was a RIGHT mess!) installed.

I fumbled my way through upgrading to the latest phpbb version. It seemed to work, though I've no idea how I managed it.

However, some users complained of not being able to see any threads. They could see the forum, and one of them who is an admin could even get into the admin panel, but could see no threads.

When I've sat down to try and work out how to fix the above, I find that the intagra/postal.php loads up blank.

I've messed about with it and tried to fix it, but it looks like it is beyond repaid.

I really could cry, seriously, as the forum contains LOTS of data.

I'd be happy if I could just reinstall phpbb and integramod and "start again", but ensuring that I don't lose the old kb items and game reviews etc etc as well as not losing the forum posts.

Can anyone help or should I slit my wrists right now?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Not that my phpbb, php, sql etc knowledge is slim to none.

the site is loading blank pages?? or your forums aren't showing up?

when i go to your site, i get the error:

Error 403 - Forbidden
You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges.

when you go to your databases via MySQL, do you see your database data? if you do, you still have your forum data, we just need to help you figure out how to make it show back up.

don't cry.. it's gonna be ok... let's just take this step by step and figure out what's going on

I had a similar problem due to a problem in the def_tree.php file.
Try first to delete (I mean, keep a copy somewhere of course) that includes/def_tree.php, and see if this solve your problem...

Also, if you changed this file previously (as there was a "fix" modifying it for Integra 1.4.0), check that you do NOT have the following lines commented in that file :

define('CACHE_TREE', true);
define('CACHE_WORDS', true);
define('CACHE_THEMES', true);

Ok, that is because the "integra2 folder doesn't exist, so the host is trying to point you to the nearest match, which ity sees as "integra.sql" this is the sql file that the woman who ran the site before me sent to me. I've protected this for obvious reasons.

The direct url to get on the site is (or rather, was...) http://www.twitchythumbs.co.uk/integra/portal.php

Phpbb is either at /forum or /forums I can't quite remember.

Hi

have you removed the site completely as it is showing nothing except 404 errors.....

What version of integramod are you using ...I know you state 1.4.1 but then you said you did a phpBB update but there isnt one to do so I am a bit confused.....

Blank pages are not such a big deal as long as you kinda know what you did before hand....

Can you give us some more info and I am sure we can sort it out...

I've deleted the "integra" directiory and all it's contents.

http://www.twitchythumbs.co.uk/forums still works, but when you try to log in it just bounces back to /integra/portal.php which is, as we know, blank.

I've tried re-uploading the integra directory from a backup copy that I have from a few monthsd ago and to no avail.

Basicaly, I think that the forum thinks integra mod is installed but it isn't

My site is the same as well as most others I think.
When you login, it defaults to the portal page.

I don't know how but I'm sure someone here can explain how to do it, so that when you login, it redirects to the forum page instead of the portal page.

Your problem seems to be within the portal page, so you would want to bypass it until you can fix it.

I think in your login.php, you would be looking to replace 'portal' with 'index'. I just don't know if you should replace them all or only some. I don't know anything about coding, so I am only best guessing. LOL

I also noticed, the forum page link you have above, doesn't allow you to register. Only to log in.

Good luck!!!

I remember some mention of that a week or two ago. But wasn't sure if that would work when logging in.
Sounds like it's worth a try.

to me this sounds a little like there is no "portal.php" file present or something... also double-check your database details.

"monkey";p="24983" wrote:...

...

It could very-well be that for example in your "config.php" the details are all correct,... but when you go to the database PREFIX_config..script_path (for example: phpbb_config and then look for ".script_path" by using the brows function in phpMyAdmin) and double-check your .script-path, that it refers to the same folder as where your index.php and portal.php are located, relative to the domains root.
(I think in your case that should be: /integra/ or /integra.sql/ or /forum/ or whatever path you were using for location of the website)

In such a case (if the scrip_path is incorrect), after logging in you'll be redirected to the .script_path that's in that database-table and it might refer to an empty folder or non-existing folder!?

Hope this helps... otherwise... dunno! You'll need to provide more specific information.

[EDIT]
PS: Keeping your above statement in mind and looking at the "forum" link you've provided... it seems like you've installed phpBB, using the database details from IntegraMod database... which then tries to use the root/.script_path as provided in database refering to a none-existing location.

Oh... overlooked another statement you've made and it now more and more seems like the situation is this:

You've removed IntegraMOD, installed phpBB, then tried to use the integraMOD database backup on the phpBB forum, which on top of not 100% compatible is also refering to the old IntegraMODs path.

I can only hope that you didn't install the phpBB database stuff ontop of the IntegraMOD database... that might mean that your database got screwed up. Hope you have a database backup of the original.

Sh*T!

Right, it's ballsed up.

BUT, I know what I've done...

I've gone into the admin cp

extremestyles admin
install styles
clicked "install" next to Integra2

Now it's saying "phpBB : Critical Error

Could not open AcidTech template config file

DEBUG MODE

Line : 1155
File : functions.php"

all over the place!

Wtf?!

Hi

The Acidtech files didnt upload correctly....

you need to upload all the files and folders.. I expect your server timed out like it it did for me constantly when I was uploading yesterday.....

Just keep trying so all the folders and files get uploaded and then your site will return...

In the "Manuals" block on the left you'll find some basic stuff, but it might not be like a tutorial on how to learn to use all the features!
Don't forget... IntegraMOD is so feature packed, that probably even the staff doesn't know every feature by heart. I honestly don't use all of them! I'm only utilizing what I need.
Unfortunately I've been searching for a clan-mod badly and can't find any that would be easy to build in. Anyhow... the best you could probably do is setup a second IntegraMOD site (from scratch) and play with that! Should you decide on importing database for practice with data present, please make sure that certain settings are changed in the database, like those details I mentioned earlier (.script_path) etc. Otherwise upon login you would end up at your current site and without knowing it wouldn't be your backup/playground site your messing with. You should also NOT specify the same database/MySQL details as on the real site! We wouldn't want you to mess with the existing data of the main site, would we!? <img>

Therefore I strongly suggest that you do a clean install... no backup files from current site and only import data/content, if you know how to make the few minor changes required for it to work.

Hope that helps a bit at least... That's how I had to learn it all and from there I went to modding and designing, but I guess, knowing most of the features is surely a pre before starting on that.

There's a fix for a lot of the CrapTracker issues that since I know about it have solved all my issues.

Check this patch... hope it will solve your CrapTracker problems!

We haven't started yet! The reason for the new site is the actual change in what we wanna do... we're planning in joining two leagues: ESL and in January CAL.

Right, I've got a problem still.#

I log in on the portal front page. Go to the forums and I'm still logged in. If I go back to the portal front page, I'm logged out.

Note that the above is not the only instance of this ocurring, but there is no rhyme nor rythme to it.

Some of my users have also reported the same problem, so it is not isolated to one particular username/computer.

Any ideas?

Tried it a few times on your site and no problems. Perhaps your cookie time is less then default and people had the window open for a while without doing anything on it? when cookie expires... you'll have to login again.

session expiry is set to 0 (= disabled).

This is very weird and there is definatley a problem.

HOWEVER, I've just tried to change the theme via extreme styles manager, to bblite, which was already showing up in the styles manager, now I've got an error

"phpBB : Critical Error

Could not open BBLite template config file

DEBUG MODE

Line : 1155
File : functions.php"

WTF?

Check in includes/def_themes.php if your theme details are correct!
I sometimes had an issue with the themes and would find a typo somewhere in the theme-lines or their respective IDs.
This is what mine looks like! It doesn't mean that those themes are actually installed at the moment, but it shows that they were installed at some point in the past! I've actually uninstalled all that are not mine, but didn't delete the files. Details with their IDs are still there.

Code: Select all
 if ( !defined('IN_PHPBB') ){     die('Hacking attempt');     exit;}  //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------//// $themes_style : templates// --------------//--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  $themes_style = array(                 1 => array('themes_id' => '1', 'template_name' => 'Integra2', 'style_name' => 'Integra2', 'head_stylesheet' => 'Integra2.css', 'body_background' => '', 'body_bgcolor' => '', 'body_text' => '', 'body_link' => '', 'body_vlink' => '', 'body_alink' => '', 'body_hlink' => '', 'tr_color1' => '', 'tr_color2' => '', 'tr_color3' => '', 'tr_class1' => '', 'tr_class2' => '', 'tr_class3' => '', 'th_color1' => '', 'th_color2' => '', 'th_color3' => '', 'th_class1' => '', 'th_class2' => '', 'th_class3' => '', 'td_color1' => '', 'td_color2' => '', 'td_color3' => '', 'td_class1' => 'row1', 'td_class2' => 'row2', 'td_class3' => '', 'fontface1' => '', 'fontface2' => '', 'fontface3' => '', 'fontsize1' => '0', 'fontsize2' => '0', 'fontsize3' => '0', 'fontcolor1' => '', 'fontcolor2' => '006600', 'fontcolor3' => 'ff0000', 'span_class1' => '', 'span_class2' => '', 'span_class3' => '', 'img_size_poll' => '0', 'img_size_privmsg' => '0'),                 2 => array('themes_id' => '2', 'template_name' => 'fisubice', 'style_name' => 'FI Subice', 'head_stylesheet' => 'fisubice.css', 'body_background' => '', 'body_bgcolor' => '', 'body_text' => '', 'body_link' => '', 'body_vlink' => '', 'body_alink' => '', 'body_hlink' => '', 'tr_color1' => '', 'tr_color2' => '', 'tr_color3' => '', 'tr_class1' => '', 'tr_class2' => '', 'tr_class3' => '', 'th_color1' => '', 'th_color2' => '', 'th_color3' => '', 'th_class1' => '', 'th_class2' => '', 'th_class3' => '', 'td_color1' => '', 'td_color2' => '', 'td_color3' => '', 'td_class1' => 'row1', 'td_class2' => 'row2', 'td_class3' => '', 'fontface1' => '', 'fontface2' => '', 'fontface3' => '', 'fontsize1' => '0', 'fontsize2' => '0', 'fontsize3' => '0', 'fontcolor1' => '', 'fontcolor2' => '006600', 'fontcolor3' => 'ff0000', 'span_class1' => '', 'span_class2' => '', 'span_class3' => '', 'img_size_poll' => '0', 'img_size_privmsg' => '0'),                 3 => array('themes_id' => '3', 'template_name' => 'aL3Xis', 'style_name' => 'aL3Xis', 'head_stylesheet' => 'aL3Xis.css', 'body_background' => '', 'body_bgcolor' => '', 'body_text' => '', 'body_link' => '', 'body_vlink' => '', 'body_alink' => '', 'body_hlink' => '', 'tr_color1' => '', 'tr_color2' => '', 'tr_color3' => '', 'tr_class1' => '', 'tr_class2' => '', 'tr_class3' => '', 'th_color1' => '', 'th_color2' => '', 'th_color3' => '', 'th_class1' => '', 'th_class2' => '', 'th_class3' => '', 'td_color1' => '', 'td_color2' => '', 'td_color3' => '', 'td_class1' => 'row1', 'td_class2' => 'row2', 'td_class3' => '', 'fontface1' => '', 'fontface2' => '', 'fontface3' => '', 'fontsize1' => '0', 'fontsize2' => '0', 'fontsize3' => '0', 'fontcolor1' => '', 'fontcolor2' => '006600', 'fontcolor3' => 'ff0000', 'span_class1' => '', 'span_class2' => '', 'span_class3' => '', 'img_size_poll' => '0', 'img_size_privmsg' => '0'),         );?>

Just make sure (mainly the issue) that the style's ID (for me "1, 2, 3") are correct and compare them with your database phpbb_themes.themes_id etc. (in your database you should only find what's actually installed) <img>

Did you verify that the IDs are correct in comparison to the database IDs and the actual folder for the theme is in the /templates/ folder?

I truly believe it would be best for you to google for XAMPP and download it... install it on your home machine! Install Integramod on it, import your database into it (change the values in phpbb_config from your site url to "localhost" and adjust the .script_path) and play arround with that before applying anything on your homepage, coz I don't think you're getting anywhere by constantly having problems somewhere and your site goes down!

Honest advise and I suggest you take it!

"enable portal wide something or other" is what I've unticked to fix this!

I think you've probably didn't use the basic layout in the past with header being left column and footer being right column, but you may have used "3_column" one which uses LEFT and RIGHT instaid of HEADER and FOOTER.

It may be switched to another type of layout at the moment that uses HEADER / LEFT / CENTER / RIGHT and/or FOOTER.

Check your settings in ACP under the "IM Portal / Page Management" and look what you have as DEFAULT.

That is also related to weather or not to display your blocks in the FORUM.

I'd still have a closer look to what PORTAL LAYOUT you're actually using.

[EDIT]
As from what I can see, you're using a very similar Layout from what I'm using now and you have "Forum-wide blocks?" set to NO
You're using a LAYOUT that uses LEFT / CENTER / RIGHT (and Enable system-wide portal header NO | Enable system-wide portal footer
NO)
or something very similar to it!

Let me make another suggestion:

NEVER delete before you've created what will replace what you're deleting!!!

So first make a new layout... test it and if happy... then delete the obsolete!

I'm still gonna go back to my initial suggestion. Download and install XAMPP (which will set up a local-server with PHP MySQL etc.) to test stuff with!
Leave the site for what it is now! Till you've sorted out what you want on your local machine!

Should you need support on how to use/install XAMPP, I'll gladly try to help on that as well... but since I've got stuff to do on my site as well, you might want to post there for support on XAMPP! On IntegraMOD, keep dooing it here, as there are even more knowledgeable folks here.

Right, I'm getting really pissed off with this layouts issue.

All I want is:

on the left the user block (you know, posts since last visit, etc etc)

portal & forum navigation

a coulumn for an advert.

Then, in the middle, I want a block spanning the middle of the page that will just be text (a welcome/introduction msg etc)

Then below it, on the left in the middle recent game reviews. On the right next to the reviews - recent topics

then below these, again, spanning the whole of the middle, the news block.

On the right I want a paypal donate block in the top right then below it adverts (the site is free to use but makes very little money).

I've been trying for ages. Can someone pls help?!

FFS!

All I had to do was keep pressing "delte cached files" in between changing it!

RAGE!

I deleted all of my layouts and blocks yesterday because I didn't realise this.

I'm soooooooooooooooooo mad right now!

I've been to where it says and can see

"Forum ID
This is the forum that the article's comments will be kept"

but there is nothing next to it to select.

You have to enter the forum ID, as in entering the number manually.
Just create a special forum for this, browse to it and look in your url... you should then be able to tell what ID it is.

PS: I'll remind you for the last time... LEARN on LOCALHOST! You have been warned!

if there's no box... then you've got a template bug! a file will have to be edited! the maker/porter of the theme must have made a misstake (or forgotten) about that one, or it's an older theme and during porting to 141 it wasn't updated.

Alternatively you could enter the ID into the SQL database manually (till the template file is fixed). If I don't forget about it, I'll check the template file for you later and hope I can post you a quick fix! if you get a chance... make a quick screenshot for me.

Monkey... I've just figured out why you had this problem with you being logged out all the time when switching to forum and then back to portal. Ran into the same issue!

It's the cookie_domain being different from your standard domain. I switched my stuff to my main domain and forgot to change the cookie-domain... then I had the same issues.

I'll now check if I can find out why you're not having any field to choose the forum-IDs.

Due to some other activities, I've not had a lot of time for it, but I've just been going through the 141 themes, and can't find your in there! It's very likely that your theme is a 1.40 theme and some of the template files are not completely up-to-date!
Try using the CS_Blue template files ;)

(Test on localhost)

Ok... Had some time to look it up for ya.

The bit that you're looking for is in the file: /teamplates/[theme-name]/admin/kb_cat_edit_body.tpl
(at least I think that's the one)

Somewhere near line 21 you should find this:
Code: Select all
        <td>{L_PARENT}</td>       <td>         <select>         <option>{L_NONE}</otpion>         {PARENT_LIST}         </select>     </tr>     <tr>         <td>{L_FORUM_ID}<br><span>{L_FORUM_ID_EXPLAIN}</span></td>         <td>{FORUM_LIST}</td>     </tr>

So under line-29 you should have this to select the forum (not a forum ID to enter after all, but a dropdown)
Code: Select all
          <td>{FORUM_LIST}</td>

This should be the explaination of the field and the dropdown box.

Hope it helps!

Oh, and if it helps, my theme is AcidTech Tiger.

Would changing my theme help? If so I'm open to doing that...

First of, check the file and search if it has {FORUM_LIST} in it. If not... then that's the problem!

You would open the file he told you about, then hit Ctrl+F on your keyboard to open the "find" function of your text editor. Then enter what he told you, if it's found, compare your file to the post he made above and see it it's the same.

And yes, changing your theme back to Integra2 is always the fastest and best way to see if you have an error in your template. If you change back to integra and your error is gone, you know its yours.

If that turns out being the case, just overwrite your theme's file with integra2's file.

Note: some files you can't overwrite, like stylesheets, cfgs, overall_header, overall_footer, etc
Use common sense there, and if you're not sure, come here and ask

I'll still be able spare a few moments to compare the files for him if needed... he would just have to sent me what they are now. Simply export them and choose download. Get in touch with me (PM or on my website) and sent me the template files... I'll then try to make them as 1.41 ready as possible!
Most files will work fine with Integra2 template files and some could be replaced by the CS_Blue template files (which is almost the same as the AcidTech_Tiger.) Shouldn't be a problem to get it ready for 1.41!

But indeed... Files like the overall_header.tpl I'd have to edit manually... it's not many edits though ;)

Right, I've changed it to integra2 theme, but my 6 column lasyout don't work and using the quad layout which is the next best thing for me, the links at the top aren't present (forum, admin, logout etc).

If they are not present then they are probably turned off.

Goto ACP (via board navigation) and in General Admin goto QBARS

Here you can set it up or enable it!

The 6 column layout not working is weird though! Could be that you have to select it again, since you changed theme and may have to decide on the sorting of the blocks again. Don't know for sure! I never use those layouts.

TBH... I suggest you get somebody to sort out your board the way it should be (done the proper way) and from then on don't let anybody not knowing what they are doing mess with it! Once it's set up, you don't have to do a lot of admin stuff!

I can have a quick look... but keep in mind: there are more knowledgable people here as well. (not saying I would mess with anything I don't know for sure)

PS: if you really grant admin access... you may have to add a number for permitted admins in section SECURITY.

OK... I've temporarily fixed the layout, changing it to Quad_layout. Eventhough I fixed the 6_column.cfg errors, the layout was somehow not working as it should. I'll have a look at that locally.
I've temporarily fixed your KB_CAT_EDIT.TPL so you can choose a forum for comments to be posted in (1.41 standard) and I've exported your AcidTechTiger theme. I'll see if I can get it updated for 1.41. Shouldn't take too long, but if you want to be 100% sure, it should still be verified by one of the Integra Staff! I'll get in touch via MSN later ;).

OK... I've updated AcidTechTiger and all should work fine with 1.4.1

I'll make it available to anybody who wants it, but I cannot guarrantee that it's perfect! If the guys here at IntegraMOD want to check it it would be better. I will however try to support any problems related to the template-files.
Anybody that likes to try or check it can visit me at my homepage (click the sig and press the iMOD button for the new site)

To specify a little better! The update is not a full manual update, but based on existing template files by the IntegraMOD team, with a few minor changes ;)
