De.scription and Message

Hi All,

1st question:
Can someone tell me how to get the birthday block in the index.php page (displays the names of the users having their birthdays today) to the portal.php page through block management ?

2nd question:
Can i display the header in just the portal.php and hide it in index.php and following pages ? how to do it ? cause i tried using the hide system wide header and this hid the header in all pages, but i want it to appear in portal.php page only.

thanks in advance

Q-1: Seems to me like some coding work, adding a birthday block. Might already exist, or somebody here might like the idea and do it.

Q-2: In your ACP go to "IM Portal" choose "Page Management" and set "Forum-wide blocks" to NO.
(For an example see my homepage... I do the same! Just click the sig <img> )

I see what you mean... in that case... try to do it like me!

NOTE: If you use my method, keep in mind that you will only have that left column and the right column (similar to header & footer) on the portal page. Forum will be full width!

Don't use the "header" & "footer", but rather a layout that offers "left" & "right" (use 3_column.tpl)
Choose it in "Page Management".

Leave the option mentioned earlier the way it is!

In "Portal Configuration" turn off "system-wide portal header" & "system-wide portal footer".

Go back into your "Blocks Management" and reassign what should be "header" to be in "left" and do the same for what should be "footer" into "right". Center will obviously remain "center".

That should be it!

PS: Don't be alarmed... after you change to 3_column.tpl, some stuff might disappear or stuff might look weird... but just complete the instructions and it will look and act like mine <img>

Thanks bro that helped ...

Now coming to birthday block.. I think the block is available somewhere as its shown from the index.php page. Have to find a way of incorporating it into the portal.php page as a block <img>

Well.... the "html" isn't hard to find, but I don't know if the portal.php will make the right queries to get the info needed to display it.
I've already tried using the html in a block, but that (as expected) didn't work, as the block is just a manual text in html and doesn't have a php to call for the info needed to display it.
I'm sure some people here would know how to do it exactly, but if I have some spare time, I'll see if I can figure out how to make a new block from the info I can find in the index files!

you can set the block to display only to logged in users in acp/IMPortal/Blocks Management/your portal page/edit birthday block/View By: - Registered Members

How can I remove the required status from the birthday feature so as to not show ages on users' posts?
