Install Problem (Solved)

Hi
I have been trying to install 141 this morning and the install isn't going quite right
Basically I installed it this morning and it went fine untill I tried to upload a backup on it to see if it would work, but it didn't and just came up with a load of errors. So I thought ok I was expecting that. I then clear the DB and re-installed and this is where my problems started.
Everytime I try to install it works saying everything is installed sucessfully 'now delete install folder', ok done that. Then instead of installing Prillian it just jumps straight to the log in page on the forums?? I have wiped (or at least i think i have) the DB 6 times now, also wiped out all the files on the ftp and redone them. I don't know what else to try.
Any ideas??
Many Thanx

check the permissions of the directories involved and also check if the ftp program didnt messed up uploading your files. sometimes the ftp program adds strange characters to the files.

Yep all permissions are set ok. I have again wipe the files from the ftp and downloaded them again and then but them back up on the ftp, just to make sure nothing is corupt. But I'm still getting the same problem I have wiped all the cookies from my machine to see if that would make any difference, but it didn't.
I am kinda of new to this so this may sound stupid i don't know?! But is there any way the Database on my server is retaining anything on it even after I drop (wipe) and that is why the install won't work after the first time??
Many Thanx
P.s I forgot to say that when I do get passed the first part of the install and instead of loading Prillian it goes straight to the login bit of the forum. Well on that bit it has me as the site founder, but I can't log in or out and there is no Admin control panel link at the bottom.

ah this is just stupid
Just re done everything, DB, Cookies, Re download file from this site, re done ftp, did all file permissions, re installed and again it has done the same thing.
Just sends me straight to the login but won't let me login, there is no error message or anything just keeps looping back to the login screen. Can't get to the acp. I can how ever see my name that was use when doing the install. Not that that is much use when i can't login. At the point of giving up now but at this since 7:30am and its now 16:45.

Hi
Thanx for the reply

So I then clear the ftp re downloaded the 141 done all the chmods again, then double checked them did another install and the same thing happened again. Then i wipe the DB and ftp downloaded the 141 again lol left the chmods and just ran it as i did the first time and again the same thing. It didn't even attemp to install prillian (even though I had left the box unchecked)and when straight to a login screen which wouldn't login in with the name I had used to do the install with.
so Yep I have done the chmods and run the install serveral times lol
I think my server is runing on Apache. Debian which I believe is a linux server, maybe wrong as I have only been doing this for 4 weeks so still trying to get my head round it all.
I have stuck the old forums back up for now till I could figure out what was causing this or at least get some sort of clue.
but the site is
http://www.pieandcaek.co.ukThanx for taking the time to have a think about my problem

hmmm strange coz if you delete the folders and zapped the db then you are actually starting fresh. If you cant install prillian then hang on and continue and see how it goes.... or you still having problem loggin in ?

Hmm...
Do this:
Go and delete, destroy, and obliterate your db and user
Delete the entire folder you had the 141 in (if it was in something like root/phpbb)
Refresh your ftp, refresh your browser, delete cookies, cache etc (sounds like much, but you have a big problem so why not?)
You don't have to redownload the 141 package, once is enough
Go into your cpanel, and upload the 141.rar file
Then extract the rar file right there in cpanel
move the files to the folder you want
Now go and make a brand new user and db with different names (make sure to give user permissions to the db)
Now before even opening your browser to the install, go and do all the chmod instructions
Now go install 141, with prillian to avoid errors later
Let me know

Hey
bariq
Yep I did on one or two installs let it run through even though in wasn't installing prillian and just kept getting to that same login in problem

Its as if there is something remaining on the DB, which as far as I know doesn't happen if you Drop everything. I also done the Cookies just in case they had something to do with it, Its all very strange.
Anywho I'll get back to you guys with the result (Good or bad) when I have finished this job.
Many Thanx again

Hi
Just a quick add on to this for you.... if things do not seem to change like they should always remember to clear your browser cache..
