Activation emails and welcome pm not being sent

New users are not getting the activation email and the welcome pm are not being sent ... all the other emails are working and there is no problem with pm ... I changed over to admin activation, and the email that goes to the admin does not work ... any ideas where to look for a fix?

did you check your email settingins in ACP > General Admin > Configuration?

i'm just using local and it works without a problem... if you're using stmp, try local and see if that works

Use SMTP Server for email
Say yes if you want or have to send email via a named server instead of the local mail function

I'm not using the smtp ... but remember all the mail is being sent only the activation email and the pm to new users ... i would think if you know this software this would be a simple problem to fix ....
