How to use Sub-templates?

PostAuthor: Michael Lundie » Tue Jun 26, 2007 12:59 pm

Hi all! I'm just posting to ask if anyone uses/knows how to use sub-templates? I have found some info on other forums, and found information, but I can't get it too work. I would have a scutter around with the programming but I've developed a bit of a record recently of breaking things...

I know a few other people have asked here, but none of the posts had been replied to that I had found.

I've so far created a sub-template directory and attempted to impliment one with no success. I would really appreaciate any assistance! (We've merged with another community and I suggested we use this in order that they may keep the look of their old boards...but I stupidly didn't test it.)

Thanks in advance!

what do you mean by subtemplates? you mean give the user the ability to change their theme to the old look?

Thanks for the reply. Sub-templates was a system where you could assign a different 'template to a forum category. So you can have one category (When clicked on) on one template, and another...on another template.

If you go to ACP --> Styles Admin --ÂÂ ¬ Sub-templates .

I use 'was' as I'm not sure if it's still integrated. Cheers!

Here's how ya do it...

Go into ACP
Open Styles Admin
Click Sub-Templates
you get a list of your templates... Click on one of them
You'll get your forum tree
Click on the 'Add a new sub-template'
click the check-box next to the forums that you want to use that template...

Thats all I know...

Thanks for the reply! I was doing as above, it's just it was refusing to actually see a sub-folder with a subtemplate again. Have you successfully used it before? (just wondering if it is a problem with my board, or everyone's? I get the feeling this feature isn't used much...lol)

I'll try again when I get back from London on Monday. Take care and thanks again!

I did it once before, but I can't for the life of me remeber exactly how I did it past what I already posted. I'll have to look at it again now that I have time.

It's amazing how much time studying for a CCNA will eat up! but now that I have the cert, I actually have tiome to spend on my board! YAY!

Hi! Thanks for replying! Sorry for the delayed reply on my side, I was in London for a bit. I'm back now though!

That would be a great help if you managed to remember! I'm going to experiment a bit more tonight, still no luck though.

Also, congrats with the CCNA! I know what you mean about studying taking up so much time! I'm currently studying a (BA)Animation. Hard to fit some stuff in!

Thanks again! Take care!
