What was done before the problem appeared?
I was having problems so I re-uploaded the whole of 141.

Okay, so I have been having a few problems I have been tryign to solve, and after a while I thought I'd just go with a fresh start.

However, I already have a working database with alot of posts/forums/sub forums etc that I don't want to be overwritten. I assume that if I install it again it will overwrite everything, is this correct or will my data be left in tact?

I don't know if a new install would overwrite your old database.

I would suggest a new install with a new database. Use the same login name and password as old site.
Once everything is installed, open your root/config.php and edit the file to point to your old database.

You now have a fresh install with your old database.
You can delete the new database when finished.
You will have to go to ACP>Forum Admin>Management + and click on Resync to get site and database syncronized.

I think that should work.
