Problem uploading .rar and .zip files

When I upload .rar and.zip files in FTP or cPanel, when downloaded and opened, they are always corrupt.

Getting these error:

! Seek error in the file C:Documents and SettingsBreckDesktopCOOLSAT6000_NORW_147_20070818.zip
! An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file.


Seem to be getting errors on everything I upload.

No - I can zip a group of files and re-open it OK
Just a problem when uploaded and downloaded.

I found in the past that .zip worked no and then but .rar never seem to work.

Actually I only uploaded the file and not the entire folder.
Got it working, but got CT error.
Debugging it now.

Would this cookieMOD work for my site http://www.stuffupforgrab.com?

My issue is with my files uploaded to http://www.stuffupforgrab.com/downloads/ folder.
The .zip and .rar files are the ones giving errors.
I can upload and download the files unzipped without any problem, it's just the compressed.
Everyone else gets the same errors downloading files I upload.

create a folder in your web root. Name it anything. upload a zipped file to it. In your browser, go to http://www.yoursite.com/the_new_folder/the_filename.zip

if it is also corrupted, then I would look to apache and ask your host.

Would transferring files in ascii be the cause of the errors?

Also would the downloads folder CHMOD have to be changed or is that OK as it is?

normally the upload folder must be 777, but I believe your server is setup differently, so yours should be 755

i dont know if it should be ASCII or Binary. I always use auto select.

i dont know what errors you will recieve using suexec and incorrect chmods other than page not found errors

Ok - I was told for uploading pictures to my server, it had to set to Ascii
