get old theme back after upgraqding

What was done before the problem appeared?
upgrade from 1.40 to 1.41
What was done to try to solve the problem?
i tried to switch the theme in acp which resulted in not able to access site--was able to change default theme back by going into dbadmin

I need to get my qbars back which do not appear now after upgrading to 1.41.
Would actually prefer the old theme as well--I had the default 1.40 theme.
I have a full backup of old files and db backup
Can someone tell me how to do this?
