I'm trying to setup my News Categories and the link for it is missing from the News Management section of the ACP. This is a fresh install (minus Prillian)

Any ideas?

I just came upon the same problem, but luckily had another install to compare files. (I found your thread coming here to look for the solution. <img>)

in admin/modules/admin_news_cats.php, look for:

$$module['News Admin']['Categories'] = $filename;

...and remove the extra $ at the beginning.

That took care of it for me.

I checked my file and it did not have an extra '$' in it, so I'm still without the ability to setup news categories or choose to make a post a news item.

I've tried to find other posts with this issue to no avail, at least not a post that helps my issue any. I've seen one that said I should have a 'News Admin' link, but I do not have that link either.

Are you sure you looked at the one in the modules folder and not the one in the admin folder?

Mine in the admin folder didn't have it, either.

Hmmmm...... I "had" looked at the one in the root admin folder and not the admin/modules/ folder. You were right, and it fixed the problem. Thanks for the info <img>
