De.scription and Message

I have an IMPortal site that has the Arcade Mod and AMember sub.scription mod added to it that I am wanting to update to Integramod.

I want to minimize downtime as much as possible. Will the following work?

Make a clean install of Integramod with a NEW database. Copy the current live config.php file the the new integramod directory. Make a duplicate copy of the existing database and then install and run the phpbb_to_im141.php on it. Will this work?

Or should I duplicate the entire existing forum to a new directory, make a duplicate of the live database and then do the update on that?

Paul

there are many ways to do it, if your proficient in php/mysql and have a good understanding of phpbb/integramod, however, i recomend following the install in the readme file exactly, because it is the only way to do it without most of the common issues.
Ive done over 40 upgrades for members and I wrote the install instructions and yet I still have a few issues when i get lazy and skip a few steps, or do them out of order.

Just be sure to have complete backups of your files and db before you start.
I have actually made it a practice now to get two db backups. One in php4 compatibility mode with most of the options turned off, and one normal backup with default settings. It seems that there are so many finicky mysql setups out there that sometimes you can make a backup and immediately try to reinstall and get mysql syntax errors
