Forum Digest turned on by default

I have an idea that will help all forums with attracting back visitors. Can you set it so the forum digest tool is on by default, set to sent out an email a week?

Some people might sign up to a forum only to get one piece of information, get it and forget about it. But if they got an update every week or when ever they want. Then it help them find more info of interest.

How can this be done?

Most people will call that spamming. And I dont think you will get lots of registerd people. You will only scare them off.

So my opinion, bad idea

Also people with emails like hot mail mark it as spam, I'm already have issues with people finding the join email. <img>

I mean that it will attract back the people who have registered. Most people only sign up to a forum to get one or two pieces of info, then forget about it.

It is not spam if they can turn it off in their control panel and also if it is in they rules of the forum during sign up.

'by default, you will recieve a weekely forum update, you can turn this off in your profile'' for exanple.

Anyways, despite your opinions on it, can it be done?
