When Invisible Simply Isn't

Over in ACP > CrackerTracker is a feature I thought would be one of the most useful in stopping users intent on causing trouble, that of the Miserable User.

It claims that

Marking a user as a "Miserable user" will make that user's posts invisible to other registered users

But in actual fact, it doesn't make the post invisible at all; the post appears as large as life itself in the worst possible fashion:

CBACK CrackerTracker Professional

Entry successfully deleted!

Please tell me the person who made that mod understands the difference between "deleted" and "invisible" and also please tell me that the settings can be changed so that the whole post can be made invisible for real?

Otherwise it's perhaps better to just stick to good ol' fashioned banning.

Thats kind of crazy. I had to make a person on my old website a miserable user, and all his posts said " Miserable User" to everyone else, or something of the such, but was plainly still visible to admins. None of them were ever deleted.

After 1 week no post period was up, I returned him to normal status and all was good and his posts remained in place.

It's quite possible it's just a translation error from the original German. But as I have never had to use the feature I can't say for sure.

if i can track down the original German, i'll check the translation.

such a shame cos making nasty posters invisible is such a better way to deal with them than to delete / ban them. once u start banning people, other users feel less confident in posting lest they be next.

Could it be changed so that it hides the post altogether?

Don't hold me to the German language as it was just my best guess at the time.

It says:

"Miserable User" Funktion zum 'stillen' sperren von NutzerbeitrÃÂ ¤gen

with 'stillen' in quote marks meaning to quieten the way u quieten a baby by giving it milk so...

"A Miserable User function, set to 'silence', locks out User contributions."

I'll download it and check the language file.
