How Can I Safely Remove A Field From The Profile Page?

I want to remove the Groups list from the profile page as that already has its own tab in the profile section. The last time I tried deleting it thru the PCP Wizard, it decimated the profile page !


How would you go about it?

ok i managed it with just a couple of clicks but first make sure you back up your def_userfields.php and def_usermaps.php - cos almost anything that goes wrong can be corrected by uploading older versions of those.

You can back them up in ACP > PCP > PCP Wizard > Backups

Then, with bated breath and fingers crossed, goto

ACP > PCP > Maps Definition > PCP > Viewprofile > Base

take a deep breath - deeper! - and choose the field you want to delete. I chose Usergroups.

Select that field and when its window loads select "edit" at the bottom. The user_field will then have an edit of its own, click on that and when that loads, delete it.

It'll take u back to the previous window and delete that as well and the field in the profile is gone.

It worked for me. Now do I want to keep the signature field in the view profile page too?? hmm...
