News block does not appear, i have went through options but still it does not show content typed into this

I have just installed IMPortal and all seems well but the news block does not appear. i have typed content into this but it does not show. i thought maybe it was not active but it still doesnt show.

Can someone advise me what is wrong.

Things to check:

ACP>News Management>Configuration - is news enabled?
ACP>News Management>News Categories - have you created a category?
When posting, did you select the news category under the post subject?

All I can think of at the moment.

Also notice in the bottom left corner of your page, there looks like an image thats not loading.
Square box with red x.

at the bottom, the only X mark i can see is a link i made for my forum - think i might have edited it by mistake - will fix it later

I dont think the "news" mod is installed, i have just installed the IM portal and the news section is found in my ACP under IM portal > block management > News and adding my content via the edit link.

Is there a news mod which might be easier than this???

Sorry - my mistake. Was giving you instructions for 141.
You posted in the 141 section so thought you were using 141.

I don't know the portal version.

I don't know what it looks like, but if it's like 141 somewhat, you could put the code in the block for news.
If it is there, like 141, there is a drop down for Block File which should be news.

Like I say, not familiar with portal version.

i have searched high and low for the version but i cant find it :S i downloaded it from phphacks so i assumed it was the most recent lol!
this is the views i am getting on my forum/portal - top is the block management - middle is the edit column for the news block and bottom is what is shown on my forum
