[Solved]Newbie struggling with 1.3.2 to 1.4.1

What was done before the problem appeared?
Several attempts at updating an IM 3.2 to IM 4.1 with different method, no luck.


What was done to try to solve the problem?
Tried the update package. Tried a new install and retrofit old forum.

I thought it was a simple upgrade, except this site uses some customized features, nothing complex, mainly a photo gallery that is external. The main site forum is http://falklands-malvinas.com/forum

I went through the basic 1.3.2 to 1.4.1 upgrade. Some columns (cheir ustom mod) in 1.3.2 weren't in 1.4.1, and I tried to get database synchoronized. I bailed out of it after too many mismatches.

So I tried to retrofit 1.4.1, loaded the full package, brought in the 1.3.2 database, went through updates to 1.4.1 database, now the forum comes up, but it doesn't show the forums on the main site. It shows a test category, with 2 posts, one of them from live database. (Note: My categories and forums table do not have a Test category). I cleared all the cache I can find. I can't log in, it just returns to log in screen. I can't get to admin panel. Portal page looks fine. The forum list doesn't have Test category. Where is it slipping through the cracks? I'm trying to go through all the cache files and moving them in.

I am at a loss how I can proceed here. It is so close yet.....

be sure that includes/def_* are all set to chmod 666

have you been able to log in yet?
if not, will it allow you to create a new user?

All permissions are set up according to installation instructions, I double-checked that.

I have not been able to log in or register a new id.

For the phpBB forum portion, where is the information on forums and other details are read? Is there a cache or table that is used prior to reading the phpbb_forums table? It is showing a forum that's non-existent in the phpbb_forums table and I've double-checked the config.php , it links to the right database.

What files and settings from an existing IM portal do I have to transfer over for it to bring up even the forum index page correctly?

Thank you, I'm one step closer; I can see the forums now.

Still cannot log in. Log in page redirects to portal page, without logging me in. Registration doesn't work either (stays in log in page). Is there a def_ or similar file which controls this?

go through phpbb_config in your database. be sure your path is set correctly to your forum root. Also try the cookie mod in the dl section here and delete your browser cache and cookies for your site
